Way out West.
Post up what you have, year, make, model
How long you've had it.
Performance characteristics and MPG.
Any issues or repairs including warranty coverage and/or out of pocket.

I've only had ICE vehicles, but am looking pretty strongly at a Toyota Rav4 hybrid.

2006 ford escape hybrid. Newest thing I could get my wife into at the time.

Bought it in 2019. Payed too much for it from a used car lot, but it was in the best condition for the age and the price premium over a non hybrid was about 2 years based on my wife's driving amount.

We had actually looked at these when they were new in 2006 at the dealer, at the time it was "v6 power with 4cyl fuel economy" and that's been reasonably true.

Need to rebalance the battery pack again. The heat of summer combined with some air conditioner issues have taken a toll on the battery pack that I don't think we would have seen in the same amount of time in WA state.

However, the dang batteries are damned near 20 years old, which is fantastic. At its absolute worst combined fuel economy, it pulls down 20 mpg, which is about par for 4 cyl of same era. 6cyl were mid teens on average.

New battery pack runs about $4k, refurbished runs about $2k and about $2k I can get new cells if I could figure out alibaba purchases.

Only sort of maint issue was the tiny power take off/transfer case thing destroyed itself. Easy to fix, holds about a pint of oil and lives next to the catalytic converter.

The ICE engine seems solid, never complains. The transaxle is stout and the transmission design is plenty robust. Being able to flat tow by just putting it in neutral is a big plus as well.

Otherwise, it's a great little cute suv and the wife likes it still. Eventually it'll get new batteries and be back into the +30mpg.

Newer stuff is all +40mpg

Been working with Toyota Hybrids for years now. Sent you a PM.

Currently have one in the driveway, they're hard to beat!

Parents have a 2022 Rav4 Hybrid XLE since new with something like 30k on it already...no real issues to speak of and way better mileage than their old rav4 v6 (like nearly double in the city).

1971 Ford F250 2WD, 428 CJ, C6 auto

<legit hybrid because it burns gas and tires :flipoff2:>

How long you've had it.
Long enough it's stored & needs the engine refreshed :frown:

Performance characteristics
Hauls ass up 'til about 100 MPH, then chassis limitations make shit sketchy right quick.

Low double-digits unless you get on it, then usually single digits.

2021 Prius LE purchased new in April of 21.
Currently at 70k miles on the odometer, new tires @ 40k. Oil changes every 5k miles. Drain and fill of the CVT at 60k.

It’s not gonna win a race or a beauty contest, but it gets out of it own way well enough for what it is, makes me pretty damn anonymous on my commute and gets a consistent 50-52 mpg doing it.

I often wish I would have gone with the RAV4, but I bought that thing based off of numbers not looks. I figured that a 150k 8 year battery warranty should get me close to the end of my commuting career.

Do I like the car, hell no, do I like the $25 fill up, $60 oil changes, and $600 set of Michelin tires that should get me 80k of service, hell yeah.

We had a 13 or 14 Kia Optima Hybrid, 40 mpg was common,, could get close to 50 on a 4 hr trip. 86K when we traded it in without a single issue or a brake. It was a bit sketchy in the winter because it started off on electric but other than that we liked it. It came with a 10 year warranty and I was worried that keeping it past 100k and something went wrong it could/would cost thousands to fix.

Had a 09 Camry hybrid, it was free, grandmas old car only had like 30k put another 50k on it over the last 6 years as the runabout for the family. Got 40mpg on the highway at 80 but felt super underpowered when trying to pass or go up mountains.

Only problem was a weird intermittent rubbing/squeaking sound at speed while turning sharply, highway exit or interchange.chased that for two years before giving up after replacing everything.

It’s on long term loan to the sister in law she was in a accident and can’t get into her expedition.

2023 Ford Maverick I waited 13 months for. Had it a month and a half and 2500 miles in and so far so good. It's pretty peppy and haven't got under 40 mpg yet. So awesome to get 550+ miles to a tank.

2024 Toyota GRAND Highlander regular hybrid AWD. 2,500 miles Avg 33.5mpg mix driving since new.

2002 Prius bought in 2012 with around 100k miles on it. Drive it for a commuter car until I got rear ended and pushed into the car in front of me. Fucking trooper didn't believe me and took the word of the fucking middle eastern kid that rammed me at about 45. Crumpled up the hood and trunk pretty good, but all the glass was still tight and it didn't seem to leak anything. Drove it for another month or so before it died at about 212k miles. About 42mpg and zero issues despite little to no maintenance.

I'm still salty about that fucking trooper, he was getting sent home from any jobs I had if he ever showed up. :flipoff2:

2021 F150 Crew cab 6.5' bed 4x front leveling kit. Bought about 10 months ago and have put on about 8k miles, gets 20mpg combined. It's fast as fuck boy! Faster than a Raptor 0-60, I had to recalibrate what happens in my mind when I mash the throttle. Rides like a Lincoln and is just as comfortable inside. So far the only issues I've had are the fuel door cover flew off, covered under warranty, the infotainment screen sometimes doesn't turn on and the passenger window auto up down is kinda messed up now. Need to get it into the dealer to fix that and for a service.

I bought the truck because of the generator and am finally getting the gentran hooked up soon. So far I've used it to cook a bunch this summer and it produces some mighty fine Ford tailgate tacos and fajitas. :flipoff2:

Had a Buick Lacrosse. 38mpg at 80+ down the interstate. 26-28mpg in town.

190hp 4cyl, with a 80hp electric motor in the transmission if I remember right.

It was comfy, could cruise for hours, and would do 140mph in Mexico.

Deer totaled it, and they're hard to find. Every old man that bought a new one got a v6 because bigger motor, and every old woman got the v6 because the battery took up some trunk space that could better be used for cat food. :flipoff2:

I have a 2023 ford maverick hybrid I bought new in March, before I drove my 2016 ram cummins 2500 around the maverick has saved me roughly $120.00 a week in fuel since I bought it. I have only filled the 2500 up 4 times since March. My wife has a 2022 Toyota Highlander hybrid these cars are super cheap to operate. They take the same oil and filters, I can change both in about 45 minutes so maintaining them is dirt cheap on Kirkland oil and the highest quality fram filters it just makes sense.

2019 honda insight. Bought new
84k miles, zero issues
Just replaced oem tires last week
3.5 quart oil changes every 5k
2.5 qt of "trans" fluid every 30k.
When i do 75 mph it gets 49mpg
At 85 it drops to 42.
Consistent and reliable.

My wife had an Avalon Hybrid, and just traded it for a highlander Hybrid. She loved her Avalon. It was problem free, with the most major problem we had was replacing tires in 90,000 miles. Not even brake pads. I have zero reason to expect less from the Highlander,
My Daughter has a RAV4. It has about 40,000 miles and has been super reliable. She had to replace the console cover, because it cracked. That is all the repairs she has had. Before that she had a Prius C. It got totaled, and flipped an F350 that ran a light and admitted it. Totally destroyed the car, but she was relatively uninjured. Insurance company called it a little tank. Would recommend for a first kid car.
If I didn’t like my first gen supercharged Raptor, or my Jeep, I would consider one as a daily whip.

I am fortunate that since 2004 my wife, mother, and sister's all drive Toyotas. (I service them all)

Hybrid Camry, Avalon, Rav, and Highlander have all been rock solid. Tires, Mobil every 5K, plugs and pads. Great cars.

Wife just went to a Rivian R1S, it took 41 months to get, I was skeptical but am sold. We just towed a trailer to and "wheeled" in Moab for a week, no problems. Wife is in love.

We have her 2019 Avalon Limited Hybrid sitting in my shop, at the time it was the most expensive Avalon my Toyota dealer had ever sold, special ordered every option. Looking to sell it, and am still about 70% of MSRP which I did not pay. I bet it sells in a day for cash.

My girlfriend had an 09 Prius before trading up. It was fine for what it was. She had zero problems whatsoever with the hybrid shit but even after you ignore the lies and bullshit the fanboys spew the amount of other parts it needed in the 1.5yr I was around to work on it did not meet my expectations for a less than 15yo car of any make. That said, I'd buy another one if the larger Subaru wagons didn't do wagon shit better. Getting 45mpg at 80mph and 800lb over GVW more than makes up for all the parts it ate.

My wife has a '24 Honda CRV hybrid, bought it in July IIRC and has about 6k on it so far. We were looking at Toy RAV4 and a Kia sportage hybrids as well but the prices were retarded. The dealers for those had $3-4k mark ups over MSRP and wouldn't budge. Honda was just under MSRP so we got that. On the highway when I drive it, it gets about 26-28 MPG, in the city it's getting right around 40MPG. She got it for commuting in the city so that's ok with her. I find it a little gutless when pulling a long hill on the interstates, it's a 2L 4cy engine. Too new to really comment on longevity though.

I put a couple hundred thousand miles on a 2nd Gen Prius. Toyota has hybrids figured out. The RAV4 hybrid and even better, RAV4 prime are both great.

Not sounding that impressive.
I am happy with it. It is my wife’s car. I would assume the mpg may go up a tick as the engine breaks in. The regular gas engine would get around 24 mixed. So we are getting 9mpg better or about 40%. I would imagine the regular Highlander hybrid would get a couple mpg better. Ours is the grand highlander so it is a bit bigger and heavier than the regular highlander.

I don't want to brag but....

I have a 2014 Chevy Volt, I bought it 2018 with 30k on it, I have 90k on it now.
It's a decent little car, I change the oil when the computer tells me, I check the "transmission" fluid every 30k, then I have put a window regulator in the drivers side and 12v battery in it and a drivers side CV boot. That is it, no brakes, no anything.
I drive it to LA all the time, I drive it to Richmond and Oakland and don't have to worry about getting the cars stolen off it like a Prius.
It's a fine car.
Has 40 mpg of electric battery, then a 7 gallon fuel take that gets 30-40mpg off that.
I'd buy this car again.

Once you've had a vehicle that has good range, it's hard to go back. My 4Runner will only go 250 with 2g remaining, whereas the EcoDiesel will go 550 and still have 1/4 tank left, (I don't like to run it below that, especially in summer).

When I was looking at replacing the Eco, none of the Ram dealers had any 33g tank 1500's in stock. Seems like a no brainer to make that standard.

My Outback is a gas/oil hybrid closing in on 300,000 miles, consistent 24mpg :flipoff2:

If I were buying a hybrid Toyota is likely the only place I'd look. I'm cheap so I'd be looking for a 2nd Gen Prius with a bad battery but if I could stomach the price a new one would do well too.
