Not to detract from the purists on the other other toyota site, I'm sure some of you degenerates have one or five of these things. Post up pictures, tech, shit talk, or whatever. It's not *that* site so OEM parts are not required :flipoff2:

I have this one and drive it every day. 1988 FJ62 with 300k miles. I bought it for $350 (not a typo) from some guy trying to get rid of it before the city was scheduled to impound it later that day. He parked it when it was overheating and let it sit on the side of the road for about 10 years. Still on the stock engine and trans, Tuff Dog shocks and springs from Trail Tailor, 4xlabs sliders, working air conditioning. It actually gets wheeled a bit. If you want to be solicited by wealthy divorced middle aged white women in the kroger parking lot of the affluent part of town, this rig is for you.

My crusty '74 40 i call Lucille. Its been a long road getting it running and driving. Check out the pic of how i picked it up from sitting in a field for 25 years. I love this thing. Its been fun finding old parts to keep the shitty look this thing has. I just added a brake booster/master from a 99 Tacoma and it stops great now with the mini truck front discs and fj60 rear end.

The day i drug it home. Trans/t-case was full of water. Rear end was shot. Drum brake front. Wasted interior.

Dude good job, that looks like a ton of work. You and Grogan have great taste with keeping the paint original.

This is my buddy's. 2F with AFI, H42, Orion, 60 series axles and springs (I think), detroit rear, ARB front, hydro assist. He bought it mostly built out of Mississippi and has done some work to turn it into an around town driver. It was named Lee Majors, it's been around :smokin:

Well, it's not mine, it's a buddy's, but I think you lot might think it's kinda neat. It's also kinda stuck in this picture, and he had to sleep in it using seat covers for blankets. 70 series, canadian market truck, steering on the correct side, NA diesel.

This is my LX450. I bought it 2 years ago out of San Diego. It's 3linked, 5.29's factory lockers, and all the armor. Since I've owned it I've only done a few things, but i'm now in the middle of swapping an LM7 into her. In the process I also did the 2wd conversion and the Marlin gear reduction. Motor is installed and ready to fire, just need to finish everything else.

Here's the one that got away. It needed a new engine, it ran fine but had that dying engine smell, and the front coilovers needed to be replaced, AND I was living in a HOA and had no place to store it. I should have parked it at my buddy's house for a year and then finished it with an LS swap. Dual lockers, 2m radio, banging sound system, 35's on Birddog wheels, 3-link front with OME springs in the rear. Loved the size, but it drank a lot of gas and barely had enough power even with 5.29 axle gears.

My 77' FJ40. I've had it for about 30+ years (don't remember exactly) It is my 2nd Cruiser. Lots of mods that I'll list later. New here to this sight from a place that should not be named. lol

I have a 60. It has some mods. Currently repainting it, so i'll put up a pic after that's finished.

Took the pile out to the Ozarks this weekend to camp and drive around. My muffler cracked at both ends and came off after only 32 years.

This thing is badly in need of a repower. It is a complete dog in the hills, but it did just fine over about 600 miles, about 70 off road.

This is Kermit, he's a 1970 in the Spring Green color.

He's not as shiny these days, but definitely still pretty.

How about 55-paloza?

Here is two out of three in one picture:
notTwins1_sml.jpg
Green is a 71 with 6.0L, NV4500, split case, Dana 60s cut to 60" that is sprung over with Tahoe springs and 35" tires that is retro built:
Outside1.jpg
The brown is a 72 that is a bit hacked and a project in the works:homer: Turbo 5.3L with 4l80, Blackbox doubler and split case. Full width Dana 60s and 43" tires:eek: Frame extended 12" for longer wheelbase(120") I was going to put half an FJ40 tub as a bed but decided to resurrect my old FJ40:
side1_sml.jpg
It will be going more "El Camino" for body with extra cab transitioned into extreme bobbed rear FJ55 body lines. Project stalled while I wait for shop time :(

Third FJ55 is a 73 that had a bit of a rough start. It is getting a big block cady 472, SM465, and split case. Narrowed Dana 60s front/rear(60") It is going for spring under maybe 2" lift to fit 35s. When you only care about the body/frame this will work:

Like brown one, it is going to get El Camino treatment. Here is mock up:

Irate. LOL. Reserving my chosen handle so some faster eddy doesn't start posting his junk around.

Marvin is rustier and not exactly on the road at the moment, but I still <3 him.

Marvin_at_TNS.jpg - '76 SOA, 2f, Orion, e-lockers

Zooms in... is that a narrowed FJ80 full float?

I know you know it is, but for everyone else:

Yessir. Narrowed about 4.5" on the passenger side to match the width of the fj62 front end. Factory lockers and factory disc brakes.

I don't have a pic of the deed just now, but it wasn't very hard. We sleeved the inside, set it up on jack stands, used the Bobby Long custom shaft to set the length and welded it as straight as we could. It works great.

It's all built out of Toyota parts. H41 4-speed/Orion is about 80:1. The rear springs are fj62 rears, the fronts are fj55 rears. Both f&r are both cut&turned with CV shafts. It runs 70mph all day. I've driven it to, through and back from Rubicon twice with little drama.

I still kick myself for not getting the FJ60 from my mom.

She paid way too much for an 86 (or whatever year is the worst for vacuum lines ) quickly overheated the shit out of it and cracked the head :homer:

She couldn't afford to fix it and needed it gone, I didn't have a place for it. So I posted in on PBB for $500 with no takers, ended up calling pnp :( This was in 2012 and what's funny is I just got a text from a guy asking if it was still available

I think a 60 series would be a great "do all rig" ID like to have one with a simple 5.3/auto/doubler and 1 tons, link front leaf rear and 40s. But built to be able to drive 100s of miles, hit any trail, and drive home.

My '67. Wife bought it as a wedding gift. She had no idea what she bough, just knew it was an FJ. It was a disaster to say the least - junky and crude SBC swap, hacked up spring over and the wiring was a mess. Ended up using a bunch of parts I had squirreled away to rebuild it. LM7 5.3, SM465 to 3spd case, 60 series steering box, disc brakes and hydroboost. Built replica Man-a-Fre rear tank. Currently sitting on 35s. It's a blast to drive

My 1975. It was previously my uncle's who built and wheeled it in the 90's and early 2000's. It sat unused for awhile, so now I have been tearing into it. It is a pretty cookie cutter 40 with Chevy 350, sm420, 3 speed t/c, and lunchbox lockers.
