Certainly not the best, and way over the top, but I bet a lot of the concepts they are showing are quite interesting to people who aren't as handy as the people on this site. I would have eaten this up when I was 10 or 12. They do a pretty good high level overview of how things work.

Yeah, pretty much this. Given that the age rating on amazon was 7+ I don't think it was meant to be taken seriously (by us anyway), and Hammond even said that in an interview.

Apparently they were on the island for 6-7 weeks filming and it truly was a deserted island, they had to bring everything for the entire production. Guess there are worse ways to spend covid.
