From my experience with my 84 k20, swapping in some cheap superlift 4" front springs in my truck gave me a decent ride and the height I was looking for. They work good for a small block, I think they were only $100 a side from Summit Racing, use C10 brake hoses they are the extra length you need. At the time I didn't feel like doing any fab work or fucking with spring and shackle mounting, and the truck is a work truck not a wheeler. My steering is sketchy when you are hitting bumps in a curve, the push pull setup with the short drag link just will never handle well. Doesn't help that the front u-joints are seized up, sometimes she locks up and when they break free it sends you into oncoming traffic. Been locking the hubs in and driving in circles for a while once a month. I am doing a Dana 60 front this winter for the cummins swap so will be doing 52" front springs, with cross over steering and hydro assist.
From my experience converting these to cross over steering drastically improves the handling. I had a 90 Dodge W250 cummins, basically the same setup as a squarebody that steered like a boat, did cross over steering and it steered better than any 2nd gen ram I ever drove.
I am digging the squarebody suburban though, pretty damn clean for being in PA.
