Doing a laundry list of upgrades, I'll be posting them here, including a 225amp alternator, Volvo electric power steering pump, winch, and a bigger battery. So tackling the basics first.

Something I found on the Internets explaining The Big 3.

Some more of the article. Biggest thing to remember, is this is a supplement. The battery wire from the alternator breaks into 2, one going to the battery, the other going to the headlamp relay.

The thing to think about here is you must keep in mind the movement of the motor. There is movement of the motor where you must have slack in the cable. Protection of the bigger cables is also paramount.

Clamping and securing these bigger cables is so important. The additional weight of bigger cables alone can be enough to get them to come loose. I'll go over what I'll be doing for that.

So, starting with the main power wire from the alternator to the battery, I came across some free 4/0ga wire. Kinda way overkill for a non-big stereo vehicle, but, did I mention it was free. Remember this can be in addition to the stock wiring. So it's a nice short run from the alternator to the battery. Here's a shot with it fitted, but I still need to put some new heat shrink on the ends, and some split loom. Also going to be tying it down close to both ends. It has to have flex in it since it's mounted to the motor.
