Teamsters Union decides not to make a presidential endorsement

So the brotherhood represents you right up until you want to endorse a Republican.. then it's "we won't endorse anyone".

Something we all knew, but still sad.
Is he truly considered a republican??? They don’t particularly like him either.

Wasn't there a time when Democrats represented the common working man? You can't say that about the Democrat party today. They're more concerned with catering to illegals, criminals, blue-haired thems, and mentally ill women who think abortion is the most important issue in the world.
Yes but they still do have to pretend they represent the 60 year old guy who worked his whole life at the same time. They’re really split. Their party is filled with two contrasting type of people the ignorant who love America and the young nut jobs who want America on fire

Control education… control the population….

People love to hate on Trump...

It's easy. Like piling on Arse...

But I look at the pool from 2016. Probably the strongest primary pool the Republicans ever had.. It had Governors, Senators, Neurosurgeons, and Trump won handily... and most will admit he outperformed expectations.

Outside of Rand Paul (and I am admittedly biased towards the Paul family) I don't think anyone in the field would have done as well, and certainly not better.

He has an annoying speech pattern and cadence I contribute to being a Yankee, and in my opinion at the time (that turned out to be accurate) is he botched Covid, but even with that... I don't know how much better you can realistically expect.

He botched covid but how much of that was due to evil advice from people who wanted to see it blow up in his face or his own malice and desire for power like we saw with the democrats afterwards?

I dont think he had any malice in any of his decisions. He may crave attention but I really do think he wants whats best for America. Even if its only because its in his own best interest.

I have been in and out of unions in my life.

Hated last time I had to join one.
Company was doing so much shady shit we had to unionize.

Every election nothing but vote Democrat propaganda.

I bitched about it at a union meeting, said they were wasting my dues money.
They claimed my dues didn't toward political activities. Really? Then when did the fucking money come from?

And I agree, huge the aren't standing behind camel toe.

This is how i remember dues and political contributions. You file thru your local to have that % deducted from your dues. They have that figure.
They have to do it, IIRC correctly it was settled by the Beck decision by SCOTUS. But you lose voting privileges in items up for votes in your local. It really chaps their ass!

why the hell not
Because they would be slitting their own throats.
Teamsters, just like pretty much every other union, have been in bed with democrats for decades and rely on them to stay powerful. A lot of money changes hands at the national level and back room deals are made.

Republicans would love to dismantle every union out there. Declaring support for them is saying you support your executioner.

Even though the members might support R’s, the higher ups have to avoid biting the hand that feeds them.

I remember here locally during Covid

There was a construction halt because of covid  then there was a closed door meeting with only union reps and Washington State Governor
and just like that, when they came out covid didn't hurt or affect union jobs

so, what did we all learn here?
Unions cure Covid, that is a good thing :grinpimp:

“Essential workers”.

Just my opinion but I think this is across the board with all Unions. At least the Teamsters came out and said they were not going to endorse anyone rather than trying to shove Harris down their members throat.

Union members vote in the majority to support a candidate but the "leaders" choose to quasi support the person who nobody voted for.

Saving democracy.

imagine that, 'participation' became mandatory and then there was no need to provide services to any demand
 yes
my one time I wanted representation for a raise. I was told to do it myself and let them know
I mean I got it, but I also go the value of the services that I was paying for

Just speculation but I doubt the union mafia would allow Trump support. The fix is in.
Back in '20, ours took donations and got a Trump billboard in front of the union hall next to the plant (steelworkers). I haven't heard yet but I assume they're doing another one this election.

(FWIW I'm not pro union. It's just a job)
