Allright so I bought $100 in raffle tickets and won this bitch a couple years ago. Pretty fond of the damn thing, but the sights seriously suck. I think they are for shootin paper or something.

Either way they need to go. Seems like theres several types of dovetails. How do I figure out what I have? Or what do I need to buy?:homer:

I want to say I read some where that the rear was a heinie style sight?

Send it to me and then go buy one with Novaks or whatever it is you want.

It’s been some time since I messed with it, but the Brownells catalogue used to list all the different dovetail dimensions for the sights they sold. If they still publish a 1911 catalogue just get it and find what you need. There’s a ton of options in there.

This is the first nice gun I have owned. There is a difference:smokin: I about shit when I saw what they were selling for:laughing:

If there was a smith around here that was decent, I would just drop it off. Have the sights swapped and pull that ambidextrous safety off as well.

I'll look up brownells an see wtf

The Indian doesn’t become a better shooter with a new arrow. :flipoff2:

What don’t you like about the sights? The rear is adjustable for height and left/right so you could change the point of aim and impact. Putting on a fixed sight isn’t going to change the gun.

BOMAR REAR SIGHT. Fully adjustable.
please don’t remove the rear sight because you can’t shoot it.

I think that the front is too thick for him.

Adjustable or fixed means jack shit to me. For shooting shit outside of paper an maybe steel, the sights are just to tight. Hell I would even be happy with the normal 3 dot combat style sight.

It's hard to blast little furry animals when they are covered by the sight.
Not when you learn how it shoots on paper. I have been able to miss paper and miss furry critters.

Steve300xcw is it because the front sight fills up so much of the rear sight? Could a fiber optic front fix it?

edit: paint to front sight orange/red/ green and see if it is easier.

The camera doesnt show the difference for some reason. But I would be happy with something like this.

I shoot in rock pits or at things with a pulse, and I prefer alot of room around the front sight. As it is faster and easier. Yea I can hog out the rear sight, but on this one I would rather just swap it out

This thread was more about what dovetail type do I need to buy. As there are a few different ones

This is about perfect for my needs. Sharpied out most of the back fiber optic stuff as that sight really doesnt matter...
