Currently driving a '14 TDI Jetta that I got ultra cheap from a customer who didn't want to replace the smoked HPFP. Either way it's up and going now, and i am considering eliminating some restrictions in the exhaust, but to be honest, buying the tune to accompany the removal of certain things would cost more than I have in the car. Have any of you ran one of these with all the restrictive parts removed but with no tune? I don't care about a CEL, and resale value isn't ba concern either. Might turn a stack out the hood if I can do it and the car still run.

I had one but I didn’t do any of the work. Loved the car, loved the economy but couldn’t register it here anymore even “knowing a guy” couldn’t beat the scanner/computer plug in at inspection.

Some people still live in the rural hinterlands that dont require stupid emissions certs. Just sayin there still is a market for "lightly modified" vehicles somewhere.

Personally, I would NEVER install non-factory approved modifications on ANY of my vehicles, EVER! :flipoff2:

I had an older one that I took the cat, EGR and anti shudder valve off of. With no tune I noticed a little difference. Then I got a mild tune on it and was a whole new animal. Way more fun to drive.

486 will be along shortly to extol the virtues of washing out your filters in gas and feeding them a steady diet of tractor waste oil:flipoff2:
I don't know shit about common rail cars sadly.

Did it get the DEF system installed?

I'd bet it'd be okay with the stuff fallen off if it doesn't have the DEF stuff added, but if it does then it'll probably do some sorta bad shit.
Hell, it might even go into limp mode if all you do is gut the dpf and catalyst, I really don't know about CR cars

I traded my 14 jetta tdi in on my maverick. The weapons grade retarded price of tunes is one reason I traded it in.

Has to be tuned after hitting a pothole or you'll be stuck in limp mode.

oh right they got retarded after people started going to jail

the older ones; it's really easy to remap them yourself (and the drop in remaps are all complete trash)
the new ones, as said, I don't know shit

Around 1200 to delete and and several hundred more for the engine tunes, and a few hundred more for the trans tunes

Leave it be, when it blows up get something else.
Happiest commuter cars are stock ones.
Save thinkering for a fun weekend driver.

That recall was never performed on it, so no def.

I did a EGR block off on my '12 tdi with no tune and no issues other than an EGR code. I havent done the dpf yet but I just started getting a light on the dash it was clogged so that mod is coming in the near future

It will probably limp mode. Our Q7 3.0 TDI has gone into limp mode for the malfunctioning DPF as well as the DEF system. I currently have the EGR and DEF tuned out and as soon as I get a pipe in the DPF is going to fall off on our bad roads and it will be fully deleted. The emissions systems on this thing have been nothing short of a nightmare, but the rig itself has been great.
