I got my langmuir table all set up and working good, however I haven't figured out the design side of it. It will come with time.

My dad requested an address number sign. It will be cut on 3/16 steel. Very simple layout.

Would someone with the knowledge be willing to create me a file?

It is being cut from a 3/16 x 12" flatbar. The numbers 2520 shall be 10 1/2" tall, with the remainder of material at the bottom connecting the number's together.

Thanks in advance.

and you just taken a stab at it on the you tuber?

I don't know what program you have but I will guess that this very project is covered in a video
you will need to convert to gcode after I am assuming

Oh, I watched the videos from langmuir and other people that know how. To me, it is just them showing that they know how to do it, not teaching me to do it.

I wouldn't be in a hurry, but my dad is coming up this weekend and if I could get it done by then, it would save me the hassle and expense of shipping it

What program?

I have a different table,
I am assuming that the program will be a bit different

The plasma table program is specific to langmuir. FireControl.

I should be capable of converting a .different file to a .tap file, but I haven't figured out that program yet either:homer:

I can give you a hand. I have a crossfire pro.

What do you want the sign to look like? Give me a a picture reference, and I'll whip something up.

That would be awesome :smokin:

Dimensions in the pic, but the only critical measurement is the height. Just so it fits on my 12" flat bar.

The metal is 25.5" long, but I doubt it would be that long.

3/16 thick

Holy crap I am computer illiterate :homer:

I got the file that TT Motorsports kindly sent me, but I can't for the life of me I can't get it converted to a .tap file.

Yeah, half of the forum threads say I need fusion 360, the other half say I need sheetcam. I have both and can't figure out either.

Both Fusion and sheetcam will work.

You need to upload the Crossfire post processor into fusion, then upload the dxf, then create cam, and then post process the cam into a tap or NC file that FireControl will read.

I can create the NC or tap file for you, but you might as well learn it now, since you have a table. Tommy giving you the dxf is a big head start.

you should be able to open the dxf in fusion360 and then save as a .tap file.

To be able to feed the file into fire control, the machine control software (for the Crossfire pro anyway) you gotta upload the post processor.

I've never messed with plasma toolpaths, but I would assume it's not just a matter of clicking convert to spit out the .tap. Don't you have to, at a minimum, tell it what side of the line to cut on for each path? And I'd assume you need to put a few of your machine parameters in for speed and kerf and whatnot.

In fusion, exactly right. Pick your lines and or loops, entry points, speeds and feeds, kerfs, heights, thc and ihs settings, etc. Not a one click op.

Yeah he’ll have to take the dxf and load it into sheetcam. Have sheetcam set up for his machine the right post processor and what not. Then in sheet can you define what you cutting and the plasma settings. It generates the code which is saved as a .tap file.

I use sheet cam fusion 360 works also. The key is have you machine setup in the software you use to generate the code so the code is correct for your machine.

Well good luck with the langmuir system. I've seen them and read online about all the trouble their software causes, which is one reason I went with my used plasmacam with the old software.

Fwiw, I haven't had any trouble with it. There was a bug or two with the thc control in the first rev of software, but it's all money now. Definitely not as nice as your machine, but for the money it's been a total gamechanger for me.
