Is there a AA/AAA type battery that won't leak? Do the lithium (AA/AAA type) batteries leak?

This was already a royovac, I've had so many Duracell batteries ruin shit I stopped using them.

I do try to keep batteries removed from devices when not being used, but this was a dvom I use pretty regularly. It just didn't turn on today and then I found 3 of the 4 batteries puked everywhere. Luckily this terminal was the only victim this time.

I've switches over to nimh batteries in everything 5+ years ago, partially for this reason. Ebls

Get one that takes a 9v

I quit using Duracell batteries for just that reason. Seemed every time they leaked. I’ve been using Energizer lithiums and haven’t had any leakage issues.
We use duracell in everything, some things they leak, some they don't.

How does anyone get,the swelled up, leaking batteries out of a mag Light? If anyone still uses them anymore. I don’t because all of them have swelled up batts in em. Every time I use a Duracell , it leaks and ruins something

I haven't had good luck with duracells....I usually run energizer, but probably one out of 50 or so do still end up leaking.

Nothing to leak in a lithium. Just don’t let em get wet.

Haven't had terrible luck with Duracell but Kirkland batteries are 100% trash. Bought a big pack of AA and AAA batteries a few years ago and half of them were pooched right out of the package. You'd have to sort through the cells to find the few that were still good and not leaking. :homer:

Both ends screw off, at least on the models I've had over the years. Take em off and ram the dead batts out with a dowel.

Same. I kept trying to be cheap, but those damned things leak more often than they don't.

only time I’ve had that happen is from leaving barriers in something that doesn’t get used much at all. If I have items like that (laser level, laser transit, game cameras etc) I don’t use very often, I pull the batteries and toss them.

I started using energizer batteries because I had two batches of bad or weak Duracell batteries and I’ve used those since the commercial (I dare you to knock this off my shoulder) commercial back in the 70’s.

Lithiums have a way better case.

Alkaline isn't hard to clean though. Drop that in vinegar for 5 minutes and it'll look like new.

Energizer lithium - run them in my Kestrel and anything else that I keep batteries in for long periods. Never had an issues. They aren't cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Kirkland used to be the best (cooper?). New supplier is junk and they don’t last long at all .

Throw the whole thing in a plastic tub and pour a liter of Coke on it. Let it sit till it stops bubbling and foaming up. If it’s real bad, might take a second liter. Should be able to get them to fall out. Then the soda just washes off in the sink.

Distilled white vinegar is much cheaper and more efficient. Can literally use a cotton swab to wipe the gunk away. Need a few ml.
Coke works because of the ascorbic acid. But it's going to be slow and take a lot.

Alkaline is basic, so you need an acid to counter-act and dissolve it.

Rinse with distilled water when done.

Dollar general liters of Coke are one dollar

And so is the vinegar... :flipoff2:

Coke is less effective and has a bunch of trash in it unrelated to what is necessary for this operation.

Is it ok if you've got a bunch in the fridge? Sure. Are you dumb to go to the store and pay more for Coke? Fuck yes :flipoff2:

Plus, I thought everyone kept gallons of vinegar on hand to deal with de-scaling everything with a food grade product?

I refuse to use energizers because of all the commercials with that fucking rabbit.

I've had leaking batteries ruin a ton of stuff. Now I take batteries out right after I use something and if I forget I want to kick myself.

For pinball machines it is standard practice to make a remote pack for the 3 AAA that sit on a board to retain memory for settings, high scores etc. These can be made for less than $5 with a battery holder, wires, a dowel the same thickness as a battery and 2 screws.
