err stray cat in my garage! Long story short, I left the side door open for a couple of days because of the big storm we got. I now have a cute yellow kitty living in there that doesn't belong to me. I have a have a heart trap set in there with some cat food in it. My wife asked "what are you going to do with it if you catch it?" I told her I am going to turn it loose. She's not having any of that, she wants me t bring it in the house as it's too cold to just turn it loose ....umm..NO, we already have two indoor cats and a dog. It seems like a decent cat from what I've seen of it.

Take it to the local animal shelter?

I'd assume you'd want someone to do that if they found one of your cats, right?

And yes, I know you said yours are indoor cats

Well the way I see it , it was out when it wandered in. I believe it's an outdoor cat. No local shelters open tonight. I do have the heat on in the garage tonight, we'll see what tomorrow brings. She has put out a notice on the local facespace page looking for it's owner.

Has your wife ever heard of animals? They are these odd critters with fur that seem to have existed just fine on their own, in the wild, without help from humans and without the use of a human house or a human heater.

It's amazing when people say to bring in the dogs or cats. What about the foxes, the deer, the bobcats, the coyotes? They are not extinct, yet it's cold outside.

I have had garage cats for about 20 years. I cut a cat door into the person door on the side and made a bed out of a cardboard box and blankets. They come and go as they please and I feed them sometimes. They keep the mice away and bring home random stuff from around the property like rabbits and birds, disappear for weeks at a time or never come back at all. They have mostly been strays that adopted us, but I did adopt 2 kittens about 15 yrs ago, that one stayed around for 5 years and the other lived 12 years and died of old age in his bed. He was one of the best I have had. Moral of the story is purely outdoor cats don't have super long lives and sometimes you never find out where they went or how they pass. If your ok with that then carry on, they make great garage pets.

Anyway, for you, I say keep the cat. Have it be outdoor. Put food and water out for it so it sticks around. Always nice to have another friendly kitty around to kill mice and just be a chill little friend hanging around.

I always love when the local news tells everybody to bring in their pets because it's going to be cold out

I had to explain that to my wife about our dogs.

I see cats around my property all the time and I never chase them off, I figure they are doing me a service by keeping the chipmunks, mice and whatever else they get away for me.

I'm off to check the trap!

From past experience I can tell you that arrows with field points don’t work well on cats. Use a broadhead.

I got a new cat a few months ago. At the farm, went outside at dusk, heard a kitten mowing, hungry, you know the rest. The best part was the wife calling all of the farmers within 5 miles asking if they lost a cat, them just laughing and congratulating her on the new cat. Luckily it's a pretty cool cat.

I have a garage cat that just showed up one day 4 years ago, she is cool. She leaves a rat tail and one foot on the mat at least 3 days a week.

Barn cat=best cat

Maybe a few , know a said guy that has a huge farm outskirts of cooper's town NY. No lie was there one time and at least a hundred cats in sight! He there are more! People drop them off cause they don't want them . They are hungry , so every so often he start's feeding them in the live stock trailer , one night the door shuts and they go to back to the hall off fame and let out:laughing:

Either grow a pair and dispose of before wife finds Out (Either put outside or dispatch, dealers choice) or welcome the new cat. Extra points if you dispatch then have a soup with some interesting tasting meat for dinner.

Neighbor was headed out to his family's ranch when he met this woman speeding down the dirt road said there was a little kid standing on the seat mouth open waving it's hands back the way they had come, he knew what had happened, sure enough down the road here came a dog running flat out trying to catch the car. He just pulled his rifle out and shot it then and there. People are such damn fools and have never seen what happens to a cow when a pack of dogs. They are fed a bunch of stories about the kindly rancher or farmer who takes in strays.

+1 vote for garage cat
I let my garage cat inside now cuz it kept getting into fights at night

If you really don't want it in there just turn the heat off for a couple days maybe leave a radio playing overnight and Rick roll the cat out :laughing:
