Swapped a used nv3550 in (coming from an ax5 so no previous experience with nv3550) and noticed that when I am just taking off in first the shifter pulses forward and backwards. It's not the normal 'mounts flexing shifter movement'. The shifter itself is rhythmically moving forward and backwards and is speed dependant. See video. What's bent?

Thanks
Marcus

Uhhh... I would be checking your outputs to see if your driveline is wobbling due to a bent something or other.

That's definitely not good. Hopefully it is external to the trans and your whole main shaft isnt warped or some shit. Have a gopro or a way to watch the underside when this happens?

Also, is this just taking off or all the time? Any other vibes going on?

Curious about the swap though!

Only when taking off in first, and only below about 2-3mph. No wobbles externally. It won't do it under lighter load, taking off down hill, spinning the rear tires on Jack stands. By 6-7mph it is gone (I think it's just happening to fast to feel as easily.

I do have some vibs around 80 on fwy, classic driveshaft vibs. I am running a new-to-me rear driveshaft, so can't guarantee balance; and the front is extended maybe farther than ideal after the ax5-nv3550 swap, it's just showing a little spline and has some play there, so vibs could be that also, even though it was fine before the tran swap.

probably just the groove where your shifter fork goes is not machined exactly right. I have a nv4500 that does that in first gear only.

Agree my NV4500 knob bounces around too under heavy load.

This is exactly the kind of input I was hoping for. Also explains why I only get in 1st. If it was a shaft, should do it in multiple gears. I'm surprised the groove can be that off that much but it's the only thing that fully explains the symptoms, and nothing to worry about. Thanks guys.
