Recently got some 'new' cabinets for the garage, which has prompted me to reorganize my crap again. One of the things i want to really sort this time, is my electrical supplies. Ive got spools of wire whether it be 120v, 220v, spools of individual colors or multi conductor, wire loom, etc, etc. Was thinking of building a rack to store the spools on, but was wondering what everyone else is doing to keep their crap sorted and not a mess?

I use a 2 wheel wire spool cart I got for $20 from a retired electrician. It holds my couple dozen spools of 12V wiring while romex stays in the plastic on a shelf. I like that I can move it around the garage to wherever it’s needed to build a harness.

New they’re expensive, but you could modify a cheap 2 wheel dolly to do the same thing.

That dolly is really cool. Could prob make something similar with a HF dolly. Coulda used something like that a year ago when I was rewiring my bronco.

I rearranged my cabinets (got a steel one to replace an old wooden one) and ended up with a space on the wall about 2' wide, something like that would fit in there. My wood cabinet had one rod in it for holding wire but it wasn't nearly enough, and the shelves were laid out dumb so it ended up full of random junk.

I like the idea of the open cabinet up on the wall but I don't have anything that will fit in the space, I'd have to build something.

Right now I have my larger spools of THHN on a piece of conduit hanging underneath a shelf, about shoulder height in the garage, which makes it really easy to pull wire off.

I have an idea to make a spool cabinet like Twankie posted on the CNC table, to accept 1/2" conduit as the bars for larger spools, then some 1/4" round bar for smaller 12v spools. Haven't got around to it though.

I like the cart idea. One issue I have with the setups like Twankie posted is that invariably you're going to want to take a spool to where you're working - at which point it is a royal pain to remove just one spool (which is always in the middle, it seems).
