Got a stock shop run around 03, maybe 04 ranger. Coil front, leaf rear, 2WD, small axle. The butt is droopy, look like at least once someone put too heavy a pallet on it and ran into the rear bumper repeated with the fork truck. Has a camper shell and I regularly push the load limit on a ranger.

Plan is to hit the junkyard and get an exploder 8.8 with an LSD. Disc brakes would be a nice swap. I also want to up the springs both in height and load cap. Whats the best option - New packs, Add a leaf, some junkyard springs, add a leaf from the junkyard? Doesnt need to be the cheapest, just the best bang for the buck.

I just looked into stock replacement springs for my 86 and they were reasonable and had a range of load ratings.
But I’d grab the leaves from the explorer like ass said to start with. They will be rated higher than the original springs in that thing.

Yeah I was looking into the specs. Looks like there are a few different options for explorer packs.

Does anyone run a ranger with SUA like the explorers? It would save cutting and welding spring perches...

I have 4dr explorer leafs in the rear of mine. 7.5 Soa it has a bit of rake unloaded. Haven't put it on the bump stops yet.

Heaviest known load was 1200lb on and 5ft behind the bed dunno what the sack of firewood short rounds weighed,

If I ever find the bushings and install them it should gain another 1/2"

When I bought my 01 it had airbags in it... Previous owner was a tile guy and used to load the shit out of it... So it needded help... ;)

Works great whenever I need to load it up and doesn't make it so stiff I lose fillings...
