New set of leaves have a lot of droop. Pack separates at the end of travel (shock limit)
Does it matter? Or Is that the purpose of the U brackets and bolts?
Would a limit strap be beneficial? or just more shit/weight/money.
Floating traction bar forces pinion angle up as droop increases, which makes the rear of pack unload. Keeping the bar as it works very well. Front of pack is separated as well.

I was actaully going to start looking into this too, as I'm not super versed in the sphere of bastard leaf packs.
When the 52s in the front of my chevy droop out the rest of the pack will separate like 4+ inches from the main leaf. In the interest of trying to keep parts together, are there any rules of thumb for how to support a leaf pack for such situations? When to think about adding additional U-brackets or some other form of spring pack support?

Letting a traction bar do that work a good option?

Looks good to me. I don't think u need a limit strap unless your shocks are the current suspension limit.

Man, I don't have enough time to click on 80% of the thread updates here. I think I saw your thread a while back but not lately.

But for the others who might not know this rig...

Tested out new rear axle position, centered well enough for full stuff, success.
Right side has exhaust interference and need to finish tailpipes.

Shackle angle is decent at full bump. Ride is 12 o'clock full droop is 10 o'clock position

That's seriously a badass truck.

I think I mentioned it in your build thread, and you said it wasn't possible due to some constraints, but moving the shackle hanger rearward would help if not completely get rid of the separation.

I know people get away with it and that is how the factory does it, but in an application that gets used hard off road where tires are often unweighted I don't like the idea of using the shock as a limit strap. That said if you don't jump the thing or beat on it too hard it'll probably be ok

Really dig the truck

OK thanks for the info.
Not planning to air this truck out. Other than on the 2-post lift the suspension isn't going to see max droop that much. Shock is the limit at 8" of down travel. Will leave alone. Alcan springs ride nice and are a big improvement over clapped out 63s.

There are holes to move shackle but bumper brackets are in what little space is left.

No, yes, in that order

You should be running a limit strap regardless so you don't beat the shit out of your shocks.
