This is the transmission cooler return line on my backhoe. It rubbed through where I circled because it was hitting the pump driveshaft.

The manual specs are below and say the max pressure is about 8 bar. Google tells me that is about 116psi.

This hose is crimped into a hardline and is like 10' long if you count the hard line. Due to where it goes through the frame, the line will have to be cut in order to remove it.

So I'm thinking about putting a hose barb in there and sending it.

What say ye IBB? Would a properly sized hose barb work in this application? Would that restrict too much flow? Nuns perishing?

^^
This is probably the best option.. also can get similar products from summit racing that are more than up to the job.

I hate barb fittings in general

Put a compression fitting to JIC or NPT on the hard line, cut it near the crimp or wherever there's room. Or weld one if you have access.

Or replace whole assembly with a new hose. Could do a 1 wire hose for pretty cheap.

Or decent 350psi hose and push lok fittings, but some of in larger sizes those are more than regular hydraulic hose ends.

If thats all the pressure it sees id use pushlok fittings/hose personally

This fucking backhoe is getting ridiculous. It has sooooo many hoses that need replaced and soooo many leaks.

The hose pictured above that goes directly into the pump is somewhat 'flexible' which allows the 'hood' to be tilted. That exact hose is discontinued.

Welcome to elderly equipment. Get an account and make friends at the hose shop and bulk oils vendor, you'll be needing them.

This. Cut the bad spot out and use these. Probably only have to cut out 1/4 inch or less depending on how big the rub spot is.

I've had this hoe for 6 or 7 years, so I'm not new to it, but man it seems like it's something all the time now...

That might be hydraulic suction hose.

You can probably flare the steel line for a connector or get a compression fitting for it.

Even if a hose is available it’s usually cheaper and faster to get one made at a hose shop.

this is what I would do as well
two swivel barb fittings and a union fitting so you can take it apart in the future without cutting it

8 bar is not an issue. we use them on air lines all the time and never have had one come off
also the restriction for a barb fitting will be very close to a crimped-on fitting, so I wouldn't worry about that.

The hose barb held for an hour or so while moving lodgepoles around.

I'm gonna get a new hose made though. I don't trust that hose barb in 30 year-old hoses...

Usually happens when you don't have the time, energy or patience for it, and almost never breaks in a nice level spot in a beautiful 65* day.

Nahhh, it'll wait till it's out in a job away from anything, angled all weird, or in 2ft of mud, pouring rain or -30*.

It's almost never the part you figure either. Hydraulic hose that is about see through somehow will last years and years, but it'll be one way down in the guts, probably installed before 90% of the machine was welded together.
The one with some crazy fittings that they'll about need to pull out of the safe cause they cost a first born or haven't been available in 20+ years so WTF do you do now?

Use swivel fittings
