Seems like Chit Chat is more like Troll-Troll.

There is an ignore function. Use it, I do.

If you keep attacking people, you will be atomic mushroomed. You get one PM warning. Then 7 days, then 30, then Perma.

We are aware of ALL of the duplicate accounts, yes, I can script bans faster than you can create them. I shouldn't HAVE to, you should be an adult and respect WHY we're all here.

The troll vacuum left behind by the loss of Screwey around here is unreal. At least he was creative and had an opinion he could defend. On top of that, he actually would admit when he was wrong, or someone else made a valid point. No juvenile name calling or, LOL as a response :rolleyes:. Not to mention, he could throw out some talented wood working tech every now and then.

This site isn't about acrimony.

It's about the biggest family of assholes. We're all family that chose to come here and be family.

If you can't get along with Cousin Idiot, ignore him. We'll take care of the folks that can't get that,

This is not the place for Troll Warfare. That's 4chan or somewhere else.

Heck, if we need to, we can do one Yer mama thread and all the lame ass, inept attacks can go there.

Can you be very precise about the definition of "attacking people"? For sure threatening physical violence or doxing cross the line and quite frankly I don't think any warning is required in such cases. Gone.

Personally, I don't see any problem that needs solving; at least not with Chit Chat. If somebody is acting like an inbred douche bag **** then they get called out as an inbred douche bag ****. If they feel attacked and get butt hurt then too bad. Grow some skin. Also, hyperbole and sarcasm are common forms of expression that can be very difficult to differentiate from "attacking people". Free speech is free speech and its not always pretty. I certainly hope this thread is not signaling a shift toward the heavy-handed stifling of speech that has become the norm at most social media sites. The last thing I want to do is tip toe through egg shells wondering if something I say will be interpreted as an "attack".

That said, I think a real problem that we need to work on is generating tech. Austin started banging the tech drum yesterday and hopefully it goes somewhere. On my side I've had a couple tech topics "in progress" for a couple months now. As most know, generating good tech can be time consuming. Hopefully over the holidays I will have time to finalize some tech posts. I'm also perfectly fine with moderators stripping chit chat and flaming from tech threads. Part of the reason people are leery of posting tech is that it invariably gets clogged up with chit chat or some know-it-all stroking his cawk.

Chit Chat is chit chat. Leave it be.

Explain this. What defines attacking? One can not defend themselves? Or are their people searching for other people's posts and attacking them? I don't filter all this shit so I don't know.

I do know one thing. I'm sick going to a hot or returning thread I'm interested in only to waste my time sifting through swinging dick contests. Is this what we're talking about? Because I'm not sure how you regulate that other than mods removing their posts and starting a new "Fight to the death" thread where they can have at it. :smokin:

There isn't just one thing... it's all of the above.

If my only unsubstantiated response is"Boss, you're an idiot", that is fucking up the forum, because I know damned well that you're going to call me a douchenozzle right back. I will remember that and do it again.

Add in 3 different accounts to do it from and it's trolling for no gain, just to fuck with people.

So maybe we do an all out thread and leave the rest alone?

If I tie into it with Province and it spirals downward to name-calling, im okay with that... because I know he's an actual member of the forum. Tomorrow he'll be talking about his tractor, his smoked wild turkey, his katana 600 powered garden tiller or whatever.

The trolls aren't real people. They sign up here only for discourse.

Imho, what this place lacks is a bear.
At the og, if you flirted with the TOS, you would be warned. If you continued and poked :roxy:, the hammer came down.
This place is modded by former members of the og. Which imho, is no bueno.

No disrespect meant to any member in any way, shape or form. I can't even imagine what it's like to adim or mod any site, let alone one filled with special needs members like us.
