Spiral locks versus snap rings

GM 203 low range box, replaced stock style snap rings new when rebuilt and replaced the idler shaft.
Tore box apart few years later and snap ring was just flopping around between 203 and 205, snap ring was installed with snap pliers.
Anyone replaced these with with full spirallock style rings?
McMaster carr has what some i think will fit the O.D, of what I need but thickness wise would have to run 2.

which ring came off? The shaft or the bearing?

The shaft rings will deform significantly if over stretched. I make sure to pinch them down tight before reusing them.

I usually like to squeeze them with some channel locks also but cant get them in there, its an ORD kit, if that matters. Nothing wrong with their kit, its been beat on for a few years.

You have to over squeeze them BEFORE you install it. Once its around the shaft youll never squeeze and make it fit tight.
