After reading through Tiha’s thread about dumping a project and seeing some of the replies, it got me to thinking about myself. Who here has project ADHD? Can’t seem to finish one, or gets too many going at once? My problem is I jump full force into something and end up wearing myself out with it. Couple that with the fact that I’m interested in too many different kinds of vehicles, and I wind up with a garage full of unfinished, unrelated crap. A few examples to keep myself honest:
I’ve got my “nice” Samurai. It needs some bodywork and general tlc. I also need to gear my spare transfer case and throw under it. It is at least a runner, which is why I’m scared to tear it apart and possibly never get it back together
Then there’s the rust bucket Sami I picked up to finally build myself a crawler. That turned into I don’t have time for a serious off-roader anymore and now it’s my wife’s Sami. It’s been sitting about a year and a half waiting on me to finish bodywork, install YJs, and pick out a drivetrain.
A few years ago dad told me to come get his 85 GT he bought new. It’s been sitting and parts scavenged from it since hitting a deer a long time ago. He realized he was never going to fix it. So I sold my coupe (sad face) to make room for this (I don’t even like hatch cars but it’s dad’s so..) Here it is the day I picked it up from the farm. It’s actually a pretty quick little street car under there… I haven’t even started on it.
I also picked up a short wheelbase rail buggy frame a year ago for one of my dream builds. It was free so I jumped on it. I wanted bare frame because plans are a light weight, 200ish hp transverse engine and trans in the back. Suspension and handling goodies all around. I’ll probably never get around to it.
And I’ve got my bike. It’s a runner and I rack up miles on it. But I can never leave it alone. It’s probably the one thing I start and finish on everytime. Last winter it got way too much suspension work thrown at it to be a slow bagger. But I grew up on sport bikes, so I want even this pig to be fun in the twisties. This winter it gets painted.
Theres also the wife’s Nova. It’s an all original showpiece. But it adds to the maintenance and upkeep around the garage.
I sold off all my tracker stuff and quit flipping them. Not much profit in them anymore with vehicle prices as they are. That frees up space and time. I do still have one major pile that I want to hack in half and put a small dump bed on for yard chores
