Anyone down there?

I see some splashes on the news but omg it is hard to imagine how bad it really is.

My wife's family is down there in Mcallen area. They are already talking about selling and getting out.

Crime is through the roof. Random immigrants knocking on the door asking for stuff all hours of the day and night.

Apparently while at walmart the other day there was a stabbing and it took 3 hours for police to respond.

Talking to their neighbors, some neighbors are hoping it gets better in 4 years. Some say they are used to it. Most are worried about their property values.

The RGV is now really a 3rd world country.

We were planning a trip to visit in May and they are saying no, do not come. It is not safe to be out even during the day now.

ive got a close friend who lives there and has all his life. and another friend spent 7 years down there. most people cant comprehend what goes on down there. my buddy who was there for 7 years was robbed twice and car broken into twice. one time they stole the A/C off the side of the house.

its sad, there are some really nice parts in the RBV. it used to not be like this. back when we went over at progresso and Reynosa, you had to be careful, but not like now. that was 20 years ago. i would not go across to a border town in Mexico for shopping during the day.

The in laws are sending local news clips. They are not really screening for anything. No proof of anything. Just take whatever name given and a court date to appear at in the future.

No idea who is coming across. Unfortunately I am sure there are some meaning to do some kind of harm and have been deported in the past for such things.

Yeah the family says do not go and they have not been in probably 20 years. They have some friends that ride a bus down into other parts of mexico and they say it is safer there than Chicago, but definitely not along the border.

A MS dude who used to be S. Texas sheriff was telling a county LEO this weekend that he has seen 3 different groups in MS with tell-tale signs of being recent crossers. He’s pretty convincing, but that would be considered profiling

the bad will really be that the BP will start losing officers over this. many will just quit if it gets too bad and then there will not be many trying to backfill those positions.

maybe thats the end game by the Dems. who knows.

i bet Stuck has something semi-informational to offer.

I haven't been down there in a few weeks, but as I understand yes, it's bad.. On the other hand, it's not really too much of an issue on all the "transit routes"' instead of fighting to get through the BP "Danger zone" and get their ass to San Antonio or Rocksprings or wherever so they can catch a ride, now many of them just step across the border and say "I'm here, come arrest me and give me my money". BP is working their ass off, but apparently a lot of the standard trouble you get with stuff being damaged or stolen or whatever hasn't really gotten any worse..

We own a couple rental houses not too far from there. We will probably give it a couple more months be really it might be time to sell and invest elsewhere. No way we will retire there now if the border security can change so drastically from one administration to the next.

I certainly did not vote for Biden knowing this was his touted policy, but I also hoped he would have just left it alone.

crime is low in Laredo, the way I hear it.. but on the other side its still pretty bad..

but its just a matter of who you are listening to..

Or who is accurately reporting what is going on and who is covering for the current administration.

We have a place about 35 miles north of Laredo, 12 miles from the border as a crow flies, with a BP check point on our fence. The checkpoint causes most of the illegals to funnel through our property. Talked to an agent back in December, and he said they had caught 500 on our property in the past year alone.
It's bad. We caught two illegals on camera decked out in full tactical gear.
BP has hidden live cameras all over the ranch.

The problem is the cartel guys are loving this because of the ones who are just turning themselves in, they need so much staff there to handle all of that. There are less resources who are able to go try and intercept those evading in open country. and thats only going to get worse. They talk about how many are being apprehended, per the numbers reported daily at the checkpoints, the higher those go, the lower the actual intercept numbers will be that are trying to evade.

Children dropped off at the checkpoints to overwhelm the system and suck resources away from the coyotes/runners. this is tactical warfare strategy thats been used for thousands of year. Diversion, divide defending forces, attack/evade in open country/water.

All I'll say is, with the press not making a huge deal out of this, it's got to be bad. If Trump allowed this, the media and Dems would be performing impeachment 3.0.

Nope, they went down and did photo shoots while acting like they cared. Remember AOC by the “children cages”?

She did that under Trump. Now with Biden in office, the dems don't care, Harris laughed when she was asked if she was going to visit the boarder.

Same, we used to cross in to Progresso several times a year. Didn’t worry about anything. Ate, drank, bought booze, etc. Haven’t been since around 2008 or so.

Lot of overly dramatic bullshit in this thread. First the RGV is hardly a thirld world country. Non cartel, (cartel against cartel like riping each others loads off) related crime is no worse than anywhere else in the US. The numbers of illegals crossing are high but theyre no where near 2016 through 2018 numbers. It doesnt take three hours for the police to respond unless the idiot who called it in doesnt tell them where its at. I guarantee if it was at walmart there was a copthere within 5 minutes. There a higher of percentage of LE in the RGV than almost anywhere. Between BP, all the locals, PD sheriffs constables and the supplemental DPS troopers theres a cop of some sort about every square mile. Iwas in a fender bender that had a cop on scene in 5 minutes.

As far as illegals coming to their door, its a possibility if they live right down by the river and thats the first place they come to, but its not like theres tons of all these new crossers roaming the streets of Mcallen, Hidalgo, Roma, Harlingen, or Brownsville. Yes there a metric shit ton of illegals in the RGV, but theres always been. Fuck a lot of the people that live there permanently are illegal.

Fuck Im a white dude and Ill cross over when the borders open. You just have to be aware of where you are and whats going on around you. Fuck hundreds if not thousands of blue haired senior citizens cross into Nuevo Progresso daily.

OP your family sounds like a bunch of fucking drama queens. Please someone tell me how very wrong I am. Its not like I know anything about the area and the situation.

Hey 72blazer! You afraid to go outside during the day?

That fake ass bitch. Just like when she accused someone of being racist when they said something about a burrito, when the guys were actually discussing what to get for dinner.

It's like shooting to wound, not kill. Takes way more resources to care for the wounded than to zip up a body bag.

It’s bad. It is going to only Get worse. The Dems are purposefully trying to punish Texas as well so I can imagine it will only really get worse. Especially with the voter ID and universal drivers license policies.

I only know what they tell me.
They say they did witness the 3 hour incident at walmart on Saturday.
They say they do have strange people knocking on their door asking for stuff and that has never happened before. They live in Donna in a normally quiet family friendly neighborhood. They have lived in that house and neighborhood for 30 years now.

There always has been illegals yes, Most likely we are renting to one.

Once my family moves out, then there will be more room for y'all. Maybe it isn't that bad, maybe it isn't worse sure, but it was still far worse than where we live now even before this border crap. wife and I had talked about changing our plans for a couple years now and this really is maybe just the final push.
