Well, that cost me some money. Thanks! Been thinking about grabbing a HF winch, but this looks like a better deal.

If I didn't have a badlands sitting on my shelf I'd probably pick one up too. Though it's a bit of a toss up. Yo can get the HF one for around $500 on sale or w/ a coupon.

10k vs 12k

Badlans comes with synthetic rope & fairlead and a wireless remote. And it's a little faster - 28.1 vs 26.2 ft/min no load - no really enough to make a difference.

Warn most likely has a much better warranty though.

For the trailer, I'd go with the warn since I'd most likely want steel cable. For the rig, I'd go Badlands since I'd likely spend the difference in cost on rope and a remote.

That winch I ordered at noon arrives tomorrow around midday. I feel like a movie star.

BTW that thing is 89 pounds. Good thing our UPS guy is one of the fit ones. heh

This got buried in chitchat but TSC has a :smokin: price on Dewalt 4.5" Cutoff Discs, 10 pack for $2.99. It shows $7.99 but select different stores for pickup and some will show them for $2.99 and say "Lower Price at this Store". I just got 8 packs yesterday from my local store.

Thanks! I just picked up the two packs they had at the Edgewood Tractor supply. The tins are really nice :smokin:

Winch arrived. FYI it does not include the wireless remote. Not sure anyone would ask, but they have that on the box as if someone expected it in the past.

They had issues with the Bluetooth and then the winch running and catching on fire. I have the same winch from 4 -5 years ago and got a recall email.

I unpacked the winch and found a notice to head to the Warn site to enter a receipt copy for a $100 credit at warn.com "for the loss of the wireless feature on your WARN VR EVO winch remote". They'll issue the credit towards a "WARN HUB Wireless Receiver (PN 103945) or other product of your choice." It was just as easy as submitting the rebate info.

So the remote is wireless, you just need to add that receiver, which is effectively free?

Not the supplied handset, but your phone with their app via BT. Hopefully it's ironed out and can't fry the winch. From the site:

I have the VR8 with wireless remote and it's kickass and righteous. Sucks that it's no longer a feature.

I'd buy it if I didn't have half dozen warns collecting dust

Man, that's kinda dumb. I can't think of a situation where I'd prefer to have to dig out my phone vs using a traditional wireless controller. Other than maybe then benefit of not having to worry about a dead battery in the remote....but most of them also have a hardwire that can be plugged in for those cases.

Seems like a solution to a problem that never really existed.

A clean adapter that would let you use the HF wireless/wired remote in the warn plug would be a good option for somdone to make and sell.

Looks like they fixed it. I bought 6 from my store and picked them up today and tried to order some for my dad and it got canceled.

If you can find one in store, harbor freight is clearing out the 44" top chests for $99-$199 depending on color.

Don't even hesitate at that price :smokin:
I picked up the only black one within a reasonable distance a few weeks back. The top was damaged/smashed all the way across the back but, all the drawers worked smoothly. For $75 and a little hammer work it looks just fine from 10 feet!
