Laid down a nap on the sofa Sunday and woke up sitting in a chair mid-conversation with the wife. Apparently I followed her around the house for a few minutes, had no idea her dad passed away 9 months ago, didn’t know I bought a Tacoma a few days ago, had no idea where my Ram was and few other things I didn’t know.
Don’t remember a thing between laying down and sitting in the chair

Not gonna lie, scared the shit out of me.

Oh, and get checked out. You don't want to meet this guy..

Seriously though, get checked out.

Wife's uncle had a few episodes like that, found out he had the beginnings of dementia. Wound up taking his own life in the backyard over it.

Hoping that it isn't that, and if it is, hope you find the help you need.

So yeah, go see a fuckin doctor

Happened to my mother in law a bit ago. She lost about a day. We thought she had a stroke but turns out it's not an uncommon event. It has no predictors, no lasting damage and having one doesn't mean you're more prone to have another in the future. The name for it had amnesia in it I think.

Thanks for all the comments. As it is I’m going to do nothing but if it happens again I’ll go get it checked out.
To be honest, what terrifies me more is if I go to a Doctor and they find a reason to take my drivers licence.
So when you get in the car and drive under a black out… and you know… kill someone, you’ll do something about it?

Re-reading my own comment where I said to go to the doc. I realize I only said that because it wasn't about me. I would definitely NOT go to the doc. Most likely they wouldn't be able to tell you anything, do a shitload of expensive tests that you have to pay for over the next year, and then tell you what korda said above.

but they do have to scare you into eleventy thousand dollars worth of tests first.

Thats exactly how I envision a doctors appointment going at this point.

Wow, guy is having medical issues and you think the best approach is being a dick...Cool

BTW. don't mess around, go see a doctor even if it means losing your license for awhile. I know, I do emergency service and I also think what would happen if I lost my license but imagine if something happened while driving, your family members or others being hurt over it isn't worth it.

That sounds like the exact same after effects I have from my seizures. I also have them while I'm sleeping.

I get a nice hard reset and then shit slowly comes back to me.

Also I'm on auto pilot right after I come out of a seizure, sometimes the wires are crossed and I do odd things...but I'm still moving around on my own 2 feet. Then I make my way back to bed and fall asleep for about 10 minutes and wake up. I don't remember a damn thing from when I'm on autopilot after I come out of the seizure. And my fiance just plays it back to me. My normal state of mind arrives after I go back to bed for 10 minutes and wake up.

Happens between 3am-5am. And used to be 5-6 times a year. Now after years of getting things in order...I've gone 3-4 years in between a seizure.

You should see a neurologist, there's all types of seizures and also not saying it's epilepsy. But you should definitely see a neurologist as that's a pretty hard reset of memory forgetting all that info from 9 months back.

My last seizure. I didn't know my age and told the medics I was born in 1914. The question itself "when were you born" was even hard to comprehend. But I'm used to it now....I know I had a seizure and I know I can't answer basic questions for about 10-30 minutes.

My advice...see a neurologist.

You didn't get whacked in the head or fall recently and hit your head?

Perfect time to wax that person you wanted to and now you have no memories of doing the hit.

Get checked out for sure tho
