It's a1979 enco. 3 phase. The man I got it from had it on an inverter (got that with it) wired straight 220. I don't have 220 in my garage but I do have an unused circuit in the kitchen. Old aluminum wiring tho. Can't decide if it's worth it to try that on a cord? or add breaker run new conduit to shop? Or swap that motor for a single phase with similar power?

Sounds like you're ready for a garage pony panel.

How far is the garage from your main panel?
What type of panel do you have, and what amperage is it?

I'd say for something like that (assuming it's simply belt drive) you're easiest way to go about it is a single phase motor. You could go 120 or 240 volts.

If you go 120 (standard household plug voltage) 2 hp is small enough to just plug in anywhere, although it would be better on a 20 amp circuit.

I have a similar one. Was 3 phase but I made it single phase 220 with a vfd. If your not doing heavy work just do a vfd to make it single phase 110 till you get a 220 line.

I have no advice to give but I have basically the same machine in single phase

Keep it 3 phase, add 240v VFD so you can keep the pulley/belt slip down.
Adding a 240v panel to your garage won't be too serious.

Finally got around to wiring it up tonight. Seems to work well. nice to just plug it in to any 110 outlet. Glad I went this route.
