It had a couple of hundred in cash, drivers licence and numerous credit cards inside.
Found it on a bench along a busy walkway. The wife suggested I just drop it off at a nearby restaurant but I didn’t feel comfortable leaving it with a random stranger and was too lazy to take it to a police station.
We walked around for a while hoping to recognize the owner from his pic on the DL inside.
I did a quick search inside and found a company fuel card so looked up to company online and gave them a call. They had no employee that matched the wallet owner.
Of course the address on the DL was the next province over and about 800 miles away.
While the wife was searching for the owner on FB I noticed a guy sitting on another bench talking on the phone that sorta coulda been the guy. I interrupted his call and asked if his last name was the guy on the DL and he looked stunned and said yes, I then asked his first name and the name he gave matched so I handed the wallet over.
He looked completely lost as I don’t think he even realized it was lost at that point. He thanked me as I walked away I heard him tell whoever was on the phone some guy just returned his wallet.
I sure he was happy to get the wallet and all contents back.

I know, cool story brah!

Good on yah

So WTF is going on with the fuel card??

Nice!

I found 2 purses and 2 wallets in 2019! One of the purses even had a hand gun in it. I was able to return both purses to the owners. Had to turn wallets into local police. One of them I found at the Texas State Capitol, The guy was from California I hope he got it back before he had to fly home.

I only keep $100 cash at the most in my wallet. I wouldnt even be mad if somebody took it if they returned everything else.

We were out wheeling in the dunes one time and found a set of keys with a key fob on them. We drove around for about 20 minutes in the parking/camping area hitting the panic button on the fob. Once we heard the horn, we drove to the truck. The guy was out ripping the dunes on his dirt bike and lost his keys. He was on the phone with his wife asking for her to bring him the extra key. He was dumbfounded that we were able to find him.

Yeah I know. Cool starry bra.

Not sure on the card but when I called the company the chick that answered didn’t sound like she knew her own name.
It was a moving company so I wouldn’t be surprised if they had more than one location and maybe the wallet owner worked for another location. Either way, not my monkey, not my circus.

I always have cash on me. Always.

So your wife caught you swiping a wallet and you twisted your crime around to make yourself out to be the hero.

Mounties on their way, always get their man.

who doesn't keep a couple thousand in case they run into something they want

Exactly, my GF used to question my doing so until she would see the screaming deals I could pull off just because I had cash in hand.

I keep a couple hundred bucks on me, but never carry cash in a wallet. Wallets are targets. Cash goes in my pocket. Small bills on the outside of the roll.

If someone gets my wallet out of my pocket without me knowing they deserve it. But I usually don't carry cash anyway.

this
fucker's velcro'd in there and generally gotta wrestle it past the muzzle of my g20 which just so happens to retain my wallet in the most annoying way.

Who keeps money in a wallet?!

Hey bro, you got venmo?

I always carry cash, mostly because I'm not a millennial twat. Or whatever kids identify as these days.

I once found a wallet in a salvage yard. Dropped it off at the front desk and the guy behind the counter asked me how much cash was in it. I didnt bother to look or at the ID, not my problem. I bet the counter monkey stole the cash though. I did my part.

Few years ago I forgot my wallet on top of the pump while i was messing with my old boat (premix). Went fishing and realized what I had done. Went back there that evening and had it behind the counter intact.

last year was floating the Guadalupe with friends and foundation bag on the bottom of the river with a wallet and phone. Poor guy was from Ohio and stuck in houston because he couldnt get back on a plane, rent a car, etc. Friend was heading that way, said the guy was speechless.

this happened to me too but I went back for my wallet within 15 minutes. The guy at the counter had it and everything was there. However, I was too stupid to think they wrote the numbers down on the cards. That day I had a charge for some bullshit I can't remember. Canceled everything and started over.
