I remember a post from the other board.

Last year (and a few times before) I rolled my rig & ended up resting upside down.
Consequently, 3-4 Quarts of smelling oil leaked out of my transmission from the shifter.

I know people have had success clamping a CV boot on the SM465 & the shifter lever to minimize this.

I measured mine when apart last year, but lost the paper.
What is the diameter of the housing at the lever and the lever itself?
I found one that fit but didn't save it.

I got motivated, so this will be a Tech thread....

Shaft diameter= 18mm/.730"
Top of case wide: 60mm/2.70"
Top of case narrow: 59mm/2.33"

I was rushing, so I'm pretty sure an 18mm 60mm CV boot will work.

I looked through this catalog & found that boot 86-2343 is pretty close. Common on Polaris UTVs. (and others).

Somewhat tech bout sm465 top covers and shifters.

Installed a sm465 into a 1985 K30 thinking shifter rods are all interchangeable learned they are not.

The shifter and top cover installed was an early so about same year as truck, wanted to put in the later shift rod that came from the aluminum top cover to find it wouldnt fit into steel or cast iron top cover that was assembled to tranmission but the wiggle thing on the end didnt reach as far as the one already in place.

Couldnt change out top cover to the aluminum one as that shift tower was to the rear farther by 3-4 ".

In for the tech, I have had the same thing happen. Also the sm465 starts to get pissed at less than 1cup of fluid in it....ask me how I know.

TO add, my sm465 has a breather on the top cover as well. Im sure that will leak when inverted...

I finally got this installed last week.

First off, the place I ordered the initial one from was a VW place in LA that turned out to be a drop ship company for Chinese products.
They sent me a tracking number a week later and then it was 3-4 weeks of it not being filled/them sending me another then I cancelled.
Ended up ordering if from Dan's Performance.

I might have been off on my measuring, because it seemed a bit big, but if I roll this summer, I'll post back up....
