What's new

SLOWPOKE goes wheeling in a golfcart!

We told ya to order those :laughing::flipoff2:

Glad you are liking it so far. They are excellent trail machines and shockingly capable even in stock trim.
They belly out on sharp break over ledges and creek banks. Just the normal function of WB versus tire size. Most of the time you can hit it with some speed and slide it up, thats something im still getting used to instead of just crawling stuff.

I pulled the trigger on a SATV skid plate and front frame stiffener this afternoon. The guy that runs the Honda SxS website I frequent is a dealer for them and got me a smoking deal on the parts. I'm only 2.5hrs from the SATV headquarters in Shreveport so I'd expect the parts to ship tomorrow and be here Wednesday. :smokin:

I'm excited to get the new parts on and the KRX back out wheeling again, I had way to much fun yesterday!

Other than some DOM tubing to go with the roll cage bungs I ordered and a winch/winch mount I think I have all the "must do" parts I need to wheel it without tearing it up.

Edit: Shit, still need the fuel tank vent...

If the angle of the seats bug you its easy to put a half inch spacer under the front seat mounts. I got spacers at the hardware store. This will also require longer bolts. Tilts them back just enough to keep you from sliding forward a bunch.

I'll be doing that mod soon. The seat is definitely to flat and upright for my taste.

I was driving home yesterday and was like holy shit how did i forget to tell slowpoke “xxxxx” ill post as soon as i get home. Well i still cant remember wtf it was:lmao::homer:

I did have to open up the hole in the satv skid plate for the engine oil drain plug as it wasnt centered.

If i ever remember wtf i was thinking of i will post it. Its bugging the hell out of me. Getting fawking old sucks

I need to stay off the internet..... I went to order a fuel tank vent last night and next thing I knew I bought the fuel tank vent, fuel pump strainers, a winch mount, seat recliner kit and the seat belt bypass plug I kept forgetting.

Looks like I'll be getting a pile of parts here today, tomorrow and Friday to keep me busy for a few days. :smokin:

There have been people sucessfully mounting the apex 5500 in the stock location. Some people have clearance issues with the wire studs on the winch motor. Just a heads up if you decide to try that winch.

I reread your thread and the other KRX threads last night to refresh my memory and caught the part about you opening up the skid plate hole.

I think I'm going to drain the front diff and transmission and refill them with Redline Heavyweight Shockproof today. I've had great results running it in both diffs and the transfer case in my Talon and have enough on hand so why not.

SWAY BARS...... What are you guys doing with them?

My Talon doesn't have a front sway bar so I figured pulling the front one off the KRX is no big deal and will help out big time in the rocks.

You guys disconnect the rear bar or leave it alone?

I ditched the front sway and no regrets rides much better. Still running the rear need to try disconnecting it

In my opinion, it totally depends what you’re riding. If you’re in Disney or Arkansas, the dramatically better comfort sidehilling is worth the ride impact. I disconnect it if I go to Crossbar.

The rear sway bar seems to do nothing on these. As in, you’ll be a tippy bitch with just the front disconnected. I have both connected 80% of the time, front disconnected 20%.

Got some parts in yesterday and tossed them on last night beforethe sun went down. The old PRP harness from my racecar for the passenger side is pretty grungy so I ordered a new one from Summit that will be here tomorrow. The harness bar fit well and made quick work of the harness install on the drivers side.....

I didn't want side mirrors so instead I ordered a cheapo Amazon cage mount rear view mirror that is surprisingly nice for the $23 it cost.....

Once that was done and while the seats were out I pulled the cover off the console and installed a new shift gate that will be much better for rock crawling than stock.....

I also picked up a floor drain kit and a cubby hole face and tossed those on to.....

Oh, I also drained the front diff and transmission and filled both with Redline Heavyweight Shockproof gear oil for peace of mind. The factory gear oil was clean when I drained it but I found it funny that it had a green tint to it.

I just put the same rear view mirror on last night. :laughing:The kemimoto stuff is decent quality for the price. I have their triangle cage bags and the tablet dash mount. I even put a pair of the triangle bags on the rock crawler.

You are forgetting multiple light bars.:flipoff2:
Moar lights, moar better…

NO, NOT HAPPENING!

This thing has bettter headlights than anything we own. Maybe possibly after I build a cage I'll consider a chase light bar with tail/brake lights and some bright ass reverse lights but that will probably be it.

here's a cheap chase bar settup that I run,

but this one is probably better and definitely cheaper...

and a vid...

I like the shift gate, where's it from?

I may add a chase bar eventually, but it brings me to a question. Has anyone ever added flashing ambers to the front for trail riding? I worry more about meeting oncoming traffic in trails than anything.

I have the Ryco light kit and the front ambers stay on all of the time, no strobe but always on. The brake lights do strobe for a couple of seconds when you hit the brakes.

Spent yesterday evening in the shop (trailer:laughing:) working on the KRX. I installed the SATV front frame brace, along with the Brute Performance upper A arm tie ins to help stiffen up the mounts. I run a similar SATV frame brace on my racecar and it saved me from having to buy a frame when I crashed a few years ago so I'm a big fan of those. After that was finished I installed the steel transmission skid plate on the rear of the frame and once that was installed I pulled the front bumper off and mounted the Dedicated Motorsports billet winch plate and tow hook....

Thought I took pictures of the skid plates and control arm tie ins last night but I guess not. I'll grab a few shortly and post them up.

Here are the pictures of the F&R metal skid plates and control arm mount tie ins i installed last night. I also started mounting the SATV UHMW skit plate today but need to adjust the bolt holes in the metal transmission skid before I finish the rear section because the countersunk bolt heads are not sitting flat enough for my liking.....
