I was thinking we have a "Random things you've made" thread, but this is more for projects you've picked up, that aren't worthy of their own thread, but you want to throw up on here anyway. I'll start

I have a thing for old farm equipment, found this corn binder locally and went and worked a deal for it. My plan is to get it operational, my father plants 30 acres of field corn, we talked about skimming off the small stuff on the edge of the field and selling decorative corn stalk bundles to the city people in September.

It's all ground driven, meant to be pulled by horses, I have it somewhat freed up, one of the gathering chains is bound up, I'll likely pull it and soak it. I need to build a new hitch pile for it, was originally 4'x6'x16' I've got some 6x6 and 8x8 oak beams that I need to rummage through and see if I can't get one milled to size. Considering making it 2 pieces so that it stores nicer.

What you workin on?

Todays... and hopefully it gets sorted today.
Onan 5500. Starts and runs great maybe 1 out of 100 tries and will stay running untill i turn it off and then back to square 1.

I know it was sitting for 3 years and then the p.o. threw a new fuel pump on it. They also taped up 90% of the air filter making me think choke issues.

Anyhow im going to clean the carb, change the oil, new plugs, new air filter, and then be pissed it still doesnt run.

The spark plugs look like they are impossible to get to with the generator installed so im pretty confident they are 17 years old... it clearly gets fuel as i can see it splattering around inside the carb while cranking and it runs out of the fuel bowl when i lossen the little drain screw.

Check to see if the rotor rings are corroded and need cleaned. It will not run after releasing the start switch if it is not making solid contact there. I used Scotchbrite on a plastic stick to clean them while the engine was cranking.

nice trommel
I think we currently have a winner

dig how it's got the "rocks, gravel, topsoil" sections
ETA: been thinking about a vibratory screen for my shit, but well... it ain't likely to happen

Cool thanks... i really havnt even looked much at it as its all crammed so far in there... i guess it would make sence it has a rotor.... i didnt really think of that... to be honest i assumed it was a 1 cylinder untill i gound the seconed head :homer:

Old small plot thresher I’m working on. This is it last year. Really doesn’t look too different now. I’m rebuilding the internal parts, fixing some minor things, etc. to make it functional. Had it running for a while last weekend.

I have been building furniture, and playing with the alaskan sawmill, because everyone with 2 kids under 2 needs to cut down their own trees, mill their own boards and build custom furniture instead of working on the trucks. I don't know if I have ADHD, or just bad at making decisions.
