Pain in the ass? Anyone done it? 8.8 ebrake cables are a mile to long and was gonna try cutting the outer sleeve and cable if I can figure out the cable end

Cable end was a real **** for me and i couldnt get any pipe solder to take hold or any good diam to fit the connecting sleeve.

However, the systems i have had to deal with have always had an intermediate cable that ive been able to find shorter pro made lengths to fit.

This is the premis...
I make em with allen head set screws.
Also bore down the long axis and do alternate setscrews opposite side of each other.

There is a rigging shop in Spokane that can crimp ends and make housings to meet your needs. They primarily build chokers and slings, but do control cables as well. Do you have anything similar local to you?

Lokar makes a number of different varieties of universal universal brake cables that are cut to fit. I used one on my TJ and it works fine. They are a little pricey, but it is more convenient than trying to chase a bunch of parts and cobble something together. It looks like there are cheaper versions now on Amazon as well, but no idea of the quality. The Lokar ones are made in USA.

And Lokar's site link in case someone wants to lookup different parts:
