Shop Truck turned Race Truck SORC Tech in Shit-shat

If the kicker is at a 45* angle, the effective height of the hole is 2.475. subtract 1.75 you get .725 for the "flats"

Circumfrence of a 1.75 hole is 5.5. Add .725x2, thats 6.95. 6.95 circumference is equal to 1.1 radius, so 2.2 diamter.

Heres 2.25" body grommets :flipoff2:
I just ran a test piece, cutting the hole through the glass approximately the same angle of the tube. Worked well. Enough so I might just run it and squirt some silicon in the gap?

Just found these on an unrelated search. Buy a pair to cut for the bars, and have an uncut pair you swap in? Probably too much of a PITA

You were looking to make the down bars removable right?

those are kick ass, thanks for finding them. yes the bars will have disconnects, but the disconnect will be outside the truck. not enough room to put it inside. I'm going to buy a pair of them and you a beer if we ever meet!

the hole in my test run is 2.25'', so using the 3'' grommet you found I will have a little wiggle room in my measuring for the final glass. :smokin:

Good luck bud!

Looks like you found a couple grommets that worked

been a minute since I updated this thread. got the cage put in, seats mounted and the lsa bolted on. two trips to kc for dyno time. been kind of a cluster f.

not super happy with the power but it is what it is. that is with 6# of boost. can't get anymore with out changing my entire front pulley system. The dyno operator is ryan mitchell, who was just on mega cash days. pretty cool guy and really willing to help a dummy get more out of his setup. I have some homework before we leave next wednesday for Arnold and the SORC.

If that what it made, guaranteed Ryan didn't leave anything on the table.

Did he make you sit on the golf cart?

no on the golf cart. and he mentioned he left a little to keep it safe. and thats ok. Believe me Im not complaining about the tune or dyno experience at all. It was far and away better than the first place i took it last week. :shaking:

ryan gave me a few things I need to do, like cai, to get it better. so I will get those things done this week.

500 to the tire is nothing to be ashamed of, well done

Just get you a bigger crank pulley

What would be interfering with the crank pulley ?

engine bay done for now. I would like to tidy up some wiring on the driver side. its all really just a cluster f. but its working good now. Drove it a town over last night for cruise night, about 70 miles total. no issues, other than noise and ride. The cage made the whole chassis so much stiffer and the lack of over stuffed comfy oem seats. but thats to be expected cuz race truck. ac and cruise control still work! Only the middle two vents for the ac, but hey, thats better than nothing. Ran 170ish on the highway with the ac on. Was about 90 out. Bumped to 200 cruising in town, but I did put the windows down and ac off.

I really didnt want to move my battery but the dyno told me the cai was really killing power how I had it before. so I moved the battery. in the middle of all this the damn hood cable broke. again. so I cut it out and put hood pins on the turd. race truck shit.(please read that with as much sarcasm as you can muster, then ask the person next to you to interject some more sarcasm and then you might be close to the sarcasm level I am reaching for).

Got the sending unit it the fuel cell wired up. Full tank is half on the guage. Good enough for now. There are steps in hp to get that better. don't care enough now to waste anymore time on it. Will fill it again tomorrow to see what it did last night for mpg and just keep track.

I wish to hell I had left my truck alone. Just about everything I did to it made it worse. Most of you told me exactly that. I have a really thick skull.

Anyhow, its ready to go Wednesday morning to get teched. wish me luck :flipoff2:

No sense in chasing dyno numbers. Whats the seat feel like when you peddle it? :homer:
To be honest I was disappointment in the seat/ass feel. Its distracting being so f-ing loud, so rough, etc.

But last night I put some time on the road and I'm feeling a lot better about it. I came up on a semi/trailer on a 65mph highway and passed him. Flicked the lock up off and pulled down to 3rd in anticipation. Hit the signal and pulled down to 2nd while pulling out to pass. It's roughly 4800 in 2nd at 65 and right in the meat of the power. Holy shit it took off. I grabbed 3rd mid pass just above 6k rpm and by the time I was by the tractor it was about to 110. :smokin:

Backed out of it quick like, hit od and lockup then slowed down.

I am going to change up the exhaust after the race. Its just obnoxious. I cannot get on it in town at all. My wife could here me get off the highway from where we live. 3 miles away, cross country. :lmao: Too loud. It is a 3'' y pipe into one 3'' magna flow. little bitty shit, like 10'' across and 16'' long.
