China special.

Starting to see more filter through now that the mini exc and mini skid market is oversaturated. :shaking:

It’s the Johnson and Johnson site. I need some of those cabinets but the auction site is a bit of a shit show.

It is in Bridgewater NJ.... must be $250K in new vidmars for sale in there.... what does someone need with 3 installed Generators?
Years ago I bit on a couple auctions that had mfg buisness selling out. They had a bunch of Vidmar cabinets listed. I bid on like three units but during the close to time out, all of a sudden they were sold in a lot group of them like ten at a time. Pissed me off. Grrrr

.gov auctions are pretty decent ones to watch. A buddy of mine bought a bunch of fab machines from schools within a 100 mile radius of where he lives.

The one in Bridgewater is over. Looked poorly run, payment terms seem like a shit show as well as pick up. Also the 18% buyers premium did not help.

Yeah I’m not doing the 18-20% bullshit. It’ll be watching FB MP before paying outrageous buyers fee

Buyers' premiums aren't an issue as long as you factor that into your bids - just bid 75% to 80% of what you'd bid without it.

Of course, in the heat of the moment that can be hard to keep track of and if everyone does it then the seller is the ultimate loser.

The last mag drills went for 750 add in the buyers premium at 18% and I am buying new.
That’s just it, there’ll be 75 guys standing around in a circle watching three then two guys bid war it out until one guy ends up paying new or over new price plus buyers fee for something.

About ten years ago I stole the thunder right out of a bid winners feelers when I pointed out he paid twice what a new cheetah tire bead sir blaster tank cost new, I rubbed dirt into that wound when I said “don’t forget the buyers fee you gotta pay too”. I showed him the new price of one on my phone :lmao:

Fuck auctions, I've got a full machine shop worth of equipment that needs to get gone in San Diego. Anybody looking for stuff in socal? Prototrak, lathes, band saws, grinders/buffers, tooling, Miller TIG.......

So having an auction won’t get what you want or?!?

The Protrack should go quick. I would love to have one but I am on the east coast

I've bought a lot of stuff from American auctioneers group bid through bid spotter. When I first started buying at auctions back in 2014 the prices were awesome. I could buy lots of stuff and resell it on Craigslist for profit. Ever since 2018 after auctioneer fee's a lot of the stuff sells for what I would find them used for sale at the same time.

A friend has bought quite a bit of equipment for his business from Richie bros auctions

Auctions have definitely changed over the years. I got into auctions back in the 90's as I was first outfitting my workshop.

I think that part of it is people going with the idea of reselling stuff on the internet instead of using it themselves has changed the landscape. I think the other part is all of the people watching stuff like Storage Wars and Pawn Stars and get all hyped up about things and overbid themselves.

There are still deals to be had out there, though.

Pretty much all auctions I’ve been to from back in the 90’s to a couple years ago have been the same. Some are better than others depending on who shows up. The key thing is self discipline to know your stopping bid and stick with it. There’s usually some wingnut paying way more than the item is worth. Maybe the other bidder did it to him on purpose, who knows on that. They are fun to watch live if you have the time.

Yes I like the online auctions where I can pre bid and type in my max and it does minimum bids until you win or lose if it goes over your max. I've never been in a situation where I Needed something and have over bid on it before. I have bid on some items during live online auctions by mistake. The website showed an item I wanted that was up for bid BUT they made a mistake and had wrong item shown so I won items by mistake. Also I have noticed Some auctions will have 5 of an item and the bid is each NOT the total for the whole lot

I find that with the online auctions the good deals are from expressly not doing that and instead waiting for the live auction and bidding on the shit that nobody wants.

My best auction was one where I won my first item and then decided that since I was going to have to drive 3 hours to get it, I might as well pick up a bunch of other shit to flip while I'm there. Ended up winning like 20 lots at the opening $10-20 prices. One turned out to be a super rare Brown and Sharp shaper attachment for a horizontal mill that I sold on ebay for almost $800. :smokin:

How hard is a Miller 252 to diagnose and fix? There is one on Gov planet that is close to me. Current bid is $5. Doesn't come with lead/gun or a ground. Closes in a couple days.

Govplanet is all live bidding day of, isn't it? Don't think you can see the prebids until it goes live. Regardless, I wouldn't bid more than scrap value and it'll probably go for a stupid high price like everything else on there.

Yes, on those the first winner gets his prime pick of the lot or some auctions he can take more then one at the same price too.

First I’d find out how much the most expensive parts on it are like the digital wire speed / temp controller is. Some people out there can repair things like that and you can find them on the internet forms or searching Google. Maybe Google most common failures on them too.

Look at the general condition of it, is it been run hard put away wet? Beat up scratched up looking?

A new gun don’t bother me as my 252 gun is still new. Took it off when I got it as I run a 25’ narrow nozzle gun. Fawk that OEM shit. My ground lead is the same 25’ long also.

Must be the area, my one buddy bought a bunch of stuff off of there a couple three years ago at great deals. This year he met a girlfriend he’s serious about and changing his whole life outlook. So I bought three machines from him for what he paid for them. I got the 8” Rockwell wood jointer and powermatic 20” horizontal bandsaw from him cheap. I paid for a 20” planner that he still needs to use cheap too.

I placed a pre bid this morning. It let me bid, but you can't see other bids. I went up to $100 and I was automatically out bid. I don't need another project that bad.
