My problem with the bigger tanks is that I'm retarded and always seem to forget to shut the valve off and then come back a couple weeks later to an empty tank. It's cheaper to do that with an 80 than a 250!

Been there, done that. I have trained myself to always shut off the gas before I turn the machine off.

Never used it on steel, always had 75/25 or straight CO2BS... Tri-gas works great on carbon steel. It's just expensive.
Stay away from Air Gas they tend to overcharge on everything.
That's because you suck at rolling it around. I suck at it too. I can go about 5' at a good clip, then I get death wobble.
The folks at the welding store can rip around with two bottles as fast as you can walk. So, it can be done.
I have to show the receipt for purchasing my bottles before they will refill them. They won't fill a bottle they didn't sell or rent. I've never tried to get the bottles filled somewhere else, my LWS is 10mins from my house.
Speaking of receipts. Sigh.
Holy shit! I get my 300' bottle of argon refiled for 38$ through our work account. If it cost that much for gas here, I would stop welding.
Is there a way to tell what gas is in a bottle? I had a bottle that was given to me and have no idea whats in it. Its got a liquid in it with a valve that can pull gas off the top or liquid off the bottom. It has male threads on the valve.
Its not propane and doesn't have any type of smell.
Any ideas?

looks sorta like a propane tank? prob a refrigerant recovery tank
check the pressure and temperature and we'll be able to tell you which refrigerant it probably is
[486 said:;n108136]that's a low pressure tank, look at the welded construction
the valve say "CGA and then some numbers" on it anywhere?
OD and better pictures of outlet threads

I'm still betting on refrigerant. Probably something higher pressure like R13 (which is worth money)
That's odd, Went to look at a setup at Maine oxy the local supplier here. They will only provide a 60cf tank to an individual which will be fine for my use. I asked why I couldn't have a bigger one they claimed terrorism shit. was he blowing smoke or does it vary depending on the area?
dude I can get a thermos filled with liquid oxygen, and that's some terrifying stuffI asked why I couldn't have a bigger one they claimed terrorism shit. was he blowing smoke or does it vary depending on the area?
