What's new

Seller raised the price for me today. :)

Like had a $10k dump truck that a guy spent like 2 hours picking apart every little detail like it was a brand new $300k truck and not 40 years old.. and then was pissed to the point if shooting rocks arcross the yard when he tore off when I told him hell no to a $5k offer.
On the other hand have had people in and gone in 5 mins.
Did he distract you with a sob story about his relatives are being kicked out of their mansion in California cause Bin Laden while his cohort poured oil onto the valve covers then immediately stand behind you while he made an offer of half hoping to flip it for double your initial asking price?

Whenever I look at something I have cash in hand and a truck or trailer and a helper to load after payment and inspection.

Having dealt with marketplace Im pricing something cheap enough it’s worth someone’s time to come and get it. I’m not wanting to deal with 100 people asking 100 questions, first person with a realistic offer and hands me cash takes it. You want to look at it and need to go get the cash I’m holding it for 2 hours than the next buyer is showing up.

The amount of time wasters is ridiculous on marketplace, getting someone to show up is half the battle. Id tell you the deal is still good but you have a day to pay for it otherwise I'm moving down the list. Now are those people real? Who knows but that usually weeds out the window shoppers quickly.

This.

I've never once gone to look at anything without a way to pay for it and a way to move it, at the very least work out a deal and a deposit and tell the seller exactly when I'll be back to pay and pickup whatever it is I'm buying.

My buddy who owns the local VCR market tells me that number is about 99.9%.
To be fair, anyone who wants a VCR and has to discuss that purchase with their wife isn't exactly the highest caliber buyer....probably about one step up from the guy that only puts 2 gallons at a time in their car at the pump because it's cheaper

Reading comprehension isn't my strong suit. . . . but seller tried to pressure OP and request a payment method that doesn't offer buyer protection? Smells scammy.

arse? is that you?
No, I'm below his coat tails.

Just trying to be funny. I'm sure the table was really nice considering the cost!. Hear good things about walnut wood.

And if you read that I'm not putting down women, I'm saying he's gay for not spending the extra to secure it for her.... which in turn will get a response from arse about entitled white women so... enjoy.

:flipoff2:

Fuck you for trying to jew him out of $200 for now reason.

You knew you wanted it.
You knew it fit.

Still tried to milk him for it.
I love to wheel n deal and most everyone out there does also. There are times when I just pay the asking price and I can only think of one time I ended up paying more for an item I already agreed to buy through messenger (that was for a hardinge indexer that I bought for $150 with a bunch of disc) turned out I got a bunch of other great stuff from the old guy too on top of it.

As far as bartering goes, I most always want to negotiate a price and most everyone I bought stuff from gets it and negotiates back or agrees with my offer. If I’m at a swap meet and you don’t negotiate on your price, I move on and figure they’re going to load their shit back up and take it back home with them and they just wasted a day and money on their booth.

You pay asking price for everything you buy?

OP is gay for wanting a walnut table. Plywood works just as good. :homer: Seriously if your wife wants it then spend the "extra" 200 and enjoy putting coffee and home & garden magazines on your new table.
No shit, just buy some walnut colored stain and go to town on your plywood table top. No one be the wiser.

I have found that casually getting their address at the time they accept the offer statistically reduces any fuckery on their part. Weird
had the tow, he wouldnt give more til the night before///apparently while he was selling it

Am I an asshole if I no show and this was our last communication?
If I do decide to go I'll send a message before to confirm we are on.
Heck, she may have sold it already. I am not sure what she assumed by my reply. I certainly can't assume she thinks I agreed.

Ya ain't got a hair on your ass if you don't go over there and pee in her butt.

I honestly don't have a problem with this. I mean, first person to show up with cash in hand wins for the most part. Holding an item for someone can burn you if that person ends up flaking for whatever reason and your other prospective buyer finds a different alternative in the meantime. Now you standing there SOL.

Seller did you a solid in my opinion and gave you the opportunity to buy the item at the original asking price but it would've been understandable also if you said thanks but no thanks.

Just the way it goes. Trust and believe if you negotiate a deal on anything that's agreed on principle but nothing is signed and someone else comes along with a better offer that shit is gonna get sold to the guy with the better offer damn near every single time.

If i think its worth it yes.

If its damaged and above reasonable price, no.

Local car flipper douche shows up with a new vehicle every month. Doesnt give a fuck if its actualy good vehicle or not. Typicaly has 1/2t browagons, 8" lifted 2wd dodge 2500 gasser, 6.0 superduties.

hIs last superduty was a browagon 6.0 but it had a ruenell fro t bumper. I wanted to buy the bumper. I told him " we both know you wont have that truck in a month, ill trade you my bumper, $500 and ill do the work".
He wanted a travle trailer and a new bumper.
I didnt relise it had a 12k warn on it already.

Na, i cant afford to pay you what its worth to you or anyone else.

A week later he finds some fab bumper he like on ebay, bumper + $ + work = trade.
Ok, send me the link and ill get it ordered.......

No link comes, monday he driving a 24v dodge.

Ive shown up to buy things and figured out it was fucked and told someone "i cant give you × for that, y or ill have to pass".

I now own a big dumb overpriced table and chairs. I'm not happy but the wife is.

I don't think it's walnut. Might be rosewood or something. No idea.

I weighed it this morning. 325 lbs. Slab is probably 280 of that.

It is mighty ring porous for Walnut. I'm betting some Latin American rainforest wood...

Probably qualifies as Walnut stained at least:flipoff2:

Yep. It only works if you grab it. Never let it ruminate. Regrets fill all the empty space in the sellers head and tortures them. $200 for that lesson. Not bad.

Also, a lessen for being a seller. Never negotiate over the phone and never agree until cash is in hand. Knowing how you feel now imagine how an unstable tard might react.

I bought it for the $2000. I didn't say a word. I kept the transaction cival. Here is your cash, let's load the table. No small talk.

Miss Oklahoma Latina US of 2014 did get a 1 star review. :)

You must be one of those rich guys, OSB does the same as plywood and costs less…:flipoff2:

It sucks when someone backs out of a deal that you had but if it's a good deal still, then I will still buy it but just be a little butthurt. I still enjoy my whateveritis.

Looks like legit walnut to me but I don't have a ton of experience with it. It's so damn pricey around here. I am more of an alder guy myself and some quality stain. :flipoff2:
