Scrap

own a 04 Matrix here.. as mentioned above. shares parts with Vibe and drivetrain with Corrola. Mine is the XR model so it has the 1ZZ motor with auto. bought used with 70k on it. has almost 280k on it now with only tires, oil changes, one serp belt and gas.. it just keeps going.. :smokin:

I bet you can get 800 for that, if its at or under 200k

Or back 40 it and look for a cleaner one with a blown motor, that's a Saturday swap, then part out the wreck, likely 500 between the hulk and the cat

Pennies... I had to look.

There are 145 pennies per pound of 95% copper 1959-1982.

So 10 pounds is $14.50 worth face value.

10 pounds just sold for $38.00 – 3 days ago

Bulk Circulated 95% Copper Pennies. 1959 to 1982.-10lbs- Free Shipping | eBay

That’s 2.62 cents per penny but with free shipping. My guess it went into a flat rate envelope for $8.15 shipping and fees and taxes were maybe $8 so they made 1.41 cents per penny.

No wonder there’s a coin shortage… It’s all being sold on Ebay right now. :-D

My scrap run on Monday. There is the remains of a Ford Exploder under all that crap. We tore it in half with the backhoes. Then I cleaned up an old Ford bed I've been stacking scrap in and by for years.

Eta: $160/ton, 5140 lbs. Nice little cleanup run.

Hopefully scrap stays up since I am in escrow on a house with an old tractor that motor is locked up on and it has 3 Van front RV's without titles that are left on property. Good for scrap I am sure.

If it's an old green tractor, its probably worth more than scrap. :smokin:Other colors don't sell very well it seems.
RVs are usually wood, fiberglass and mouse poop. I only collect them if the have a big block Chevy or Chrysler engine. Then you gotta tear them down before you can scrap what little metal is in them, at least here. They make a huge mess.:mad3:

Yeah I know the body of them isn't worth shit and they have a SBC and a Small Block Dodge motor which may be worth something to someone but not worth enough for me to remove it and sell. Yeah no idea on make or anything on the tractor, it's an old yellow one with a 4 cyl gas motor

Give the motor homes away to somebody with the means to get them gone cleanly.

Or, if you have a project that requires thou to have a backhoe or small excavator on the property, make sure the scrap yard will take them with the bodies knocked off (including no title issues, or accepting them listed in your paperwork) then dig a hole, knock the bodies off and in, then towbar them across the scales

Also, sometimes you can negotiate RVs at the scrap yard, at a lower rate, best to take pics and go talk to a mid level guy in person

It will make a miserable mess, I have passed on a dozen free rvs, even when I really wanted the engine, or needed the money

Edit: if the tractor is old enough, they make wicked yard art at your front gate

Yeah no keys or titles so I will post them up for free to get the hauled away, once I go through and take whatever I find i could use out of them. Also there is an old cab over camper too on the property that doesn't look too bad so will probably clean that a bit and put it for sale for a grand or so, to let someone have a good base to remodel themselves.

I've thought in the past about getting a couple or three of them lined up, then smash them all up into a 30yd dumpster, saving the 'good' metal and bits

There was an organized thing here, semis going directly to the mine to pick up loads of fresh copper, fake paperwork, I heard they had somebody inside, something like 200k a load, they got caught, but it was still hush hush, im thinking it was bigger than they let on

Also they had a deal going for a while where truckers needed to have enough fuel to not stop for 200 something miles so they didn't get jacked
Hmm, judging by your location was it from Fmi?

I got a Christmas Card today from the local scrap yard. Not sure how I feel about it yet. Am I such a good customer they want me to keep coming to them or they are rubbing in how much they underpaid me on all the loads I brought in.
I gotta ask a couple of buddies that scrap more and less then me if they got a card:flipoff2:

local scrapper here has taken an RV from me before. My step dad's friend left a travel trailer at the farm and didn't come back for it for a couple years. kept telling mom tell that dickhead to come get his camper.. gave him 6 months he never did so I aired up the tires on it and drug it to the scrapper. i think scrap iron was at $200 and they gave me $100/ton. i was tickled.. got rid of the mess and got paid for it too. also hauled off a short bus the guy had parked at the farm and abandoned. it was old enough i didnt need a title.

Is within the month the time to scrap, or should I wait a little bit. My trailers starting to get full

Just have to call the local yards, none of my local places even the yard in Kansas City has gotten as high as what these guys are talking about

Just checked today they are at $275/ton for unprepared. So it dropped a bit which it would be expected as the holidays fuck everything up.

I just had 4 dump trucks hauled from my new property that I am cleaning up and they said in LA they get around $200 a ton for the unprepared stuff down there. I asked him if it's been going up or down and he said it's been going down every week since a little before Xmas.

Made a nice little pile of scrap today. Should be able to double that pile by how much concrete is left.

Took in the wire and rebar from the first pile recycle we did and got 275 a ton :smokin:

I better get prepared for this stuff.

Fuckers wouldn’t give me prepared for that pile. Whatever, 9740 lbs worth of steel at $275 a ton isn’t a bad haul:smokin:

I actually called the local scrap yard to see what junk cars was going for. $135 a ton. better than a poke in the eye I guess. tired of step dad's junkers sitting in the fence row.

I have 3 old shitty RV's that were left on my property by previous owners. Gonna scrap them and hopefully they don't say shit about needing a title or anything
