Surprisingly little info online, though Google seems to have forgot all the forums of late...
I used a Makita HM1213C 24lb demo hammer for a few hours peeling up tile and grout and breaking up a small foundation. It was fine, noise is fine, vibration was fine, power maybe a little low if I was going to break up very much of a slab. It did annoy my back because it is too short and makes me hunch over with 18" long bits.
Got me wondering if a traditional style breaker is a better tool for me? The Makita HM1214C is 27 lbs and does not hit much harder, but is longer and would let me stand up a bit more.
Probably can not use the 27lb breaker horizontal.. but how often do you anyways? I had some tile to get off a wall, and just used my 20V Dewalt hammer drill. If I had to demo something with a lot of wall tile I either buy or rent something corded and lighter than these hammers, right?
Primary use is demo/reno type work, I need to do about 60 feet of basement slab next for a sewer main. Have 3 bathrooms of tile, a kitchen, an old hunting shack with linoleum floors, etc.
If I had a substantial slab to break up I would go rent a 35+ lb tool, I can pay for this "medium" sized tool in rental fees pretty quick and have it for life. Any options I am missing
Thanks
