I'm using some cheap cameras from amazon (I can get the link later if you want) and a cheap screen. I think the cameras were about $12 each, and the screen might have been $15. I put a front camera too, to help parallel parking my F250.
Wired them on a 3 way toggle switch, didn't want to have the reverse turn on when I'm in reverse, since it's a manual transmission sometimes I let it roll backwards not in gear, and I wanted to still have the screen on. Flipping the switch up gives me the front camera, down gives me the rear, and middle is off.
Cameras have been going strong for over 3 years now.
I'm used to driving small jeeps, the F250 (2000) was a little intimidating when I needed to parallel park at first, the cameras really helped alot. I still use them pretty often. And occasionally to get 1" from someone's bumper at a traffic light when they do something dumb in front of me. Amazing how wide peoples eyes get when you get the grill of the truck filling their mirrors
They don't really help TOO much when wheeling, but it does work nicely when you need to make a tight 3 or 17 point turn in a canyon or up against a tree or something and you want to get as close as you can up front or out back without smashing. Other than that, I haven't found them very useful for helping tire placement, the angle of view is just too wide to really get a sense of where the tires are.
