What's new

Saturday Night Losers Club!!!!1!

In. Service call this morning. The start capacitor failed on an 18 yo 1½ hp well pump motor control box.
Next I installed the a/c compressor on my father-in-law's jaguar. Got that done and charged then went to my nephew's 8th birthday party.
Stopped at autozone and picked up another r134A can tap.
In California you pay a $10 deposit on freon cans. You only get 90 days to return the empty can to get your deposit back. I used about 2½ cans charging my s10 ac. I don't have use immediate use for the other ½ can but want my deposit back. I have a older empty container so I transferred the freon to that can.

Next I realized that I forgot to mow the law this week, so I did that. Now waiting for pizza to get delivered.

Rebuilt the outboard on my boat for anyone that remembers that saga . Took it out today thing was running perfect and broke down and had to get towed back from the same spot . Everyone needs a boat .

Interviewed for my dream job Friday. Two hour long interview . The guy that I know is my competition most definitely is better with certain things (excel) than I am . However, I am hoping my other attributes prevail. Regardless , happy to have been interviewed and hoping if it doesn’t get me an offer, it creates an additional opportunity .

Picture for reference of the aftermath of the boat rebuild .

In,

last night I drove into the forest till I lost cell signal. Enjoyed a few beers by the fire, difficult to not feel good in that space.

Productively worked on a project today, should have half of it done tomorrow.

EPA is so fuckin stupid about the Freon. Glad we don’t have the can deposit yet.

Feeling pretty good, 72 PU has been having weird bogging issues when first trying to accelerate after starting it after parking driving on a hot day, and revving smoothly when trying to go fast between shifts. it has a big inline filter which I replace last summer and it helped some but started acting up again so I replaced it again and put an inline regulator on too but it still was acting fuel starved.

It occured to me that I have never checked for a little filter inside the Quadrajet since I got it, I just assumed it didn't have one since I always just remove them when there is a big inline filter. So I go find an offset 1" wrench which is perfect for removing the fitting, pull it off and Voila! there is a little wire strainer basket in there, and it looked pretty crapped up. Put the fitting back on empty, went for a test drive, seemed much better, drove it over 150 miles on a shopping trip into 90+ degree weather, it ran perfectly the whole time and pulled hills beautifully.

Psyched.

Still shit mileage but worth it just for the cool old truck factor. Had the kick plate vent, wind wing, side window and rear slider window I put in all wide open for the full wind tunnel effect. YeeHaw! I should check the point dwell but still haven't in the 4 years I've driven it since other than this fuel starving which now seems fixed it starts and runs great.

Airshow weekend this week. Up early and helped judge the STOL competition. Wind was gusting to ~40mph and one plane did a 15’ take off and a 16’ landing. Dude could fly the plane. Got the golf cart transmission back together to find a circlip I forgot, that means it comes back apart tomorrow. Called it a day after that. Been catching up on the memes thread and playing with the new 3D printer. Had hoped to play more with the new drone I picked up, but the wind is STILL howling.

Welp, just got back from my brother in law's. He broke his back a couple of years ago and is in a wheelchair.
His palm tree somehow caught on fire burning his fence, backyard and the back porch awning. Luckily the main part of his house didn't burn. There are probably 50 dead pigeons in the backyard.

Roast squab!

How does a palm tree 'accidentally' catch on fire?
My brother in law was in his living room in the front of the house, his two boys were in their bedrooms when it started so they don't know.
The neighbor boy saw the fire and was trying to put it out with a garden hose but it couldn't be done.

My bet is that the neighbor flicked a cigarette over the fence or a bottle rocket hit it.
The fucking pos fire Marshall wrote in the report that it was caused by a propane smoker that was not being used nor had a propane tank connected to it.:mad3:

Somebody tired of the pidgins crapping all over their lawn furniture

Left home this morning at 8:30 to help set up for my granddaughter's graduation open house. Then to my twin niece & nephew's open house, then back to my granddaughter's shindig. Lots of people, lots of fun, lots of good food, perfect weather. Now sitting down to watch the Panthers hopefully win the Stanley Cup.
Damn they got spanked, Oilers finally showed up to play, a little late I believe.
