I've had my 07 mega cab for close to 5 years now. I've rebuilt the trans, new injectors and turbo, Thuren 3" springs and fox shocks, 09+ steering, longer control arms, etc, etc.
The truck is pretty clean, accept for the rusted Ranch Hand bumper.
Figured it was time to post a build of the rebuild and winch add, and make the front end look better. Rusty looks so trashy.
I've had a Warn 12k kicking around for 10+ years with no home. 150' of synthetic line off my old 66 bronco rock crawler I'm going to use with it. All the steel on hand. Got a bottle of Corroseal to stop all the rust before primer and paint.
I got started today. Bumper pulled. Headlight guards cut off. 1/4" plate winch mount cut and welded in. Front receiver moved up.
Realized I miss placed the follower block for my bender in a move. JD2 is weeks out on making that part. Sucks, but is what it is.

Can't help on the winch hawse but I was looking at my ranch hand other day trying to figure out how I can add a winch mount so this is a timely thread. Any plans to add any additional support? Mine's on an F-250 so 7000 lb truck with a 12,000 lb winch wondering if it's necessary in case of an off center pool?

Yes, I'm going to add support wherever I can fit it. This was just day one of the build.

Great, appreciate it and looking forward to see if I can replicate!

Pretty sure you winch mount with the 1/4” plate is beefier than what comes on those bumpers. Are you planning to cut the top of the bumper to access the lever on the winch?

Yes sir, probably a 4" hole, or oblong. May try to do a piece of rubber or something because of how much snow/ice builds up and sits for long periods.

Got my 10" fairlead from Custom Splice, and the follower block that I lost.
Should have the fab wrapped up this weekend.

What's a good middle of the road set of LED lights? I want better than the cheapest Amazon ching chong shit, but cannot do top of the line either. Looking for good budget lights. 4-5", not into doing a bar.

Get the cheapest and seal the housings. By the time they give you problems the cheapest will be at where the best are today,

Finish welded. Hopefully that's enough bottom bracing for the winch. Two holes in the "grill" are for 7" LED Spots. The 4.5" lights will mount to the flat diamond plate outside of the "grill".

Light tabs and a few trim pieces finished. Spent most of the day painting on paint stripper, pressure washing, and prepping. Need to weld on a few tabs for wire loom, and a spot for the winch relays and it'll be paint time.

Got the M12000 wired in and working. I bought it used 10+ yes ago, and the PO through me for a loop. He had the control disassembled and installed inside for a dash switch. I figured everything was wired correctly, nope. Figured I had a or multiple solenoids bad after sitting for so long, after an hour of troubleshooting I figured out it was just the switch wiring :homer:.
Pretty happy with the 7" lights.

Got the warn wireless remote in the mail today. Works great the little bit I've tried it, besides the fact that the F1 and F2 terminals are reversed. Schematic showed them two different ways and the controller switch was so f-ed up I was surprised it went in and out.
