Lol that’s funny. I love playing 100 questions with my buddy over the design process of these engines. Last time he was up I think I peppered him for 3 hrs over the design of the v6 and v8 engines. It so crazy how the loudest thing on a 600hp outboard at idle was the tell-tall stream hitting the water so they did away with it.

It’s absolutely awesome asking how and why they did what they did starting from a sheet of paper with some specs on it to buying a super large diecast press to full production of the engine.
He’s still working in the engine engineering department doing block stuff. I wouldn’t doubt they have more shit coming down the pipe!!
That's Smith Mtn Lake!! The pic with the mountain and the tower on it is right in front of my aunt's old house.
Boat's looking great. I spoke with your pops a while back about repowering my Grady. Ended up finding another OX66 to keep her going for a while. You have a guy down there who could sleeve an OX66 block? Looks like a stuck ring in #1 and that's all. New piston and a sleeve and it should be good. You recommend bearings too?
how quick is that bad boyNo update on the CHawk. Just enjoying it. Did finish up my 1979 Hydrostream vulture after 5 years though.

This entire thread gives me anxiety. This is all way too fast on water for my little nutsack.I got it up to 73 Sunday with 2 people. Couldn't get it up on the pad and prop wouldn't keep the bow up. Still have a lot of set-up to do with the boat and some driving skill to work on.
Should easily be a 80mph boat

But this new boat--fuck this new boat in particular.
Where did the metalflake gelcoat go? What have you done??
(holy shit that looks good)
looks way too safe and stable to be as fast as it can go :)
Is there a better irate thread to consider “the boat thread”? Sorry for the thread-jack.
Semi local, semi trashed hydrostream Vector came up, price just went down to a grand for boat and trailer. No one came to look when it was at 2k. Transom claimed to be rebuilt, looks more like reinforced and probably trashed. No interior. Probably junk 115 with probably junk controls. Worth a 2.5 hour trip? If I could get it for a song I think yes. If it’s a semi firm 1000 I’m thinking no.
Curious your opinions having recently touched old junk. This needs a refinish way worse than yours did lol.

Where we at? Starting to see those August evenings with no breeze. Should be some clean water out there....100%
Creeping up on setup
Low 80s still working on setup. Broke the mid section last time out.Where we at? Starting to see those August evenings with no breeze. Should be some clean water out there....
I have never heard of Coosa board. Is it easy to work with? Any boat I buy will probably need some.
