Fast forward to last year, I bought an 89 single cab i just had to have. I ended up swapping a 2rz onto my frame and throwing a third gen cab and bed on top of that.
Sadly, the cab was scrapped and the bed was sold.

Updates: Only took me two years :shaking: Got it running and driving, the 2rz stumbles and drives like shit. I guessing its a throttle body/ iac issue. Daystar body mounts suck, the whole cab rattles and it drives me crazy. Lots of little shit to take care of and I don't even have a trip planned yet.

Third gen body on my second gen frame, all the cab mounts lined up.

More driveway shots, the wheels are your basic d-windows. 17x9 2.5 inch backspacing, the scrub radius is terrible.

The 2rz is out of a 98. Found a 3rz engine harness that worked :cool2: Justin at toy only swaps hooked me up with the body harness.
22re psc kit with Chilkat mount.
w-59 bell bolted up to my weak ass g52
3rz clutch stuff for the trans/t100 oil pan that leaks :grinpimp:
22r radiator and fan shroud

Ive heard bad things about chikat engine mounts so i grabbed the toy only swaps mounts. Just basic 3rz swap stuff.
Hot air intake, hopefully boost soon?

Vinyl floor from auto interiors cut to fit. Davez twin sticks from back in the day Cut a fat hole in the fire wall for the clutch, the 2wd cab was originally an automatic.

Fabbed a quick battery tray with the overflow hangin off the side. Used a painless battery cable kit and extended my fusable link.

Random updates:

Picked this boat anchor up for 80 bucks at the local u-pull it. I have no clue what i want to do with it, i thought it you be a cheapish build until i looked up gears and an install kit would run close to 800 bucks :barf: Pics of this massive axle.

I was hoping to keep it semi-float and narrow it but the factory shafts neck down pretty good past the splines.

This bitch is wide.

Any advice would help, I want to narrow it down to 63 wms but the lack of support/ expensive gears/lockers make this axle unappealing to me.

That neck down is actually the correct diameter the axles should be the whole length. Allows for twist along the whole shaft vs right at the splines.

Maybe Dutchman or Moser would make narrower SF shafts in 6 lug? What's the plan for the front though?

I've got a 60 series front end that i plan on running ifs hubs on. Should be around the 61-62 ish mark? The other option would be to chase down a fj-80 rear and flip it upside down to keep the driveshaft out of the gas tank. Those are hard to find in this area though.

Looks like it could swallow 10in pretty easily... :flipoff2:

Of ring gear! Looks 2nd gen Tundra-y.

The 3rd gen body setup is looking pretty dialed.

but will that axle stand up to v8 low low gears like a 14 bolt. just asking for a friend :*) i honestly never looked in to is all. and thought look at all the clearance there is over a 14 bolt. but the stamped housing and all.

Its decent for sure. 4;30 gears stock, pinion is midline and out of the dirt, lack of gears and locker options suck. semi-float and a stamped housing are some of the cons.

Randy slawson ran one for a few years in koh, ect.

Well, just the 3rd. The stock housing is pretty lame in comparison to the R&P.

How are you liking that fj rear on kernel mustard? Does it match the front width okay?

It's been great for the 2 hours total, maybe of crawling I did

It "matches" fine. Front is a ~+8" diamond axle. So it's about 64" with SA hubs, but currently 67" with ifs hubs.

I've had 2 different FJ80 fronts, and there's no way I'd run the rear with a regular Toyota solid axle
