'Rona as an excuse - Who's using it, who's not

Comcast. Had been dealing with intermittent internet issues since before COVID. Prior to it I had no problem getting through on their customer service line. They sent me new modems twice, didn't fix it. Figured out the signal coming into the house is bad, needed to get a tech out. Took me days to get through. Over the course of two months I tried getting someone out here before they finally sent someone out on July 4. Dude confirmed lines from the street were all bad. He ran a temp line, but nothing into the house and left. Didn't fix it. Called them to setup another appointment 4 more times. Local company that subs for Comcast would just say they came and never show up and would refuse to do any work that involved coming into the house. Finally went the fuck off on them after the 4th time.

Someone finally shows up again two weeks ago and tells me what I already know. Most the guys at his company are just staying at home, marking appointments complete and the company is billing Comcast without actually doing anything. He seemed as annoyed by it as me. He ended up spending like 3 hours here running me a new line from their box on the pole and ran a dedicated line into my apartment. He couldn't come inside so I just had him cut the right length I needed in the house and ran it outside myself to him. Even gave me his cell in case I had any more issues. Gave that guy a huge tip, but fuck Comcast and whoever their local sub is.

Amazon has been okay for me. Summit

Zero issues with Amazon, but we also have 3 warehouses around here.

I will use Summit every chance I get.

A few years ago I had just started a new job that turned out to be a nightmare. Of course right as I got it my truck shit the bed, turned out to be the distributor. Couldn't get a new one locally for a few days so I ordered overnight from Summit. They shipped via FedEx. FedEx never showed up and immediately returned it without contacting me. Ended up losing that job over it because I couldn't get to work, only place I've ever been let go from. Called Summit and told them what happened. Not only did they send me a new one for free, they overnighted it for free and made sure they didn't use FedEx again on the new one. Only problem I've ever had ordering from them and I couldn't believe they did that for me.

FedEx and UPS are as busy as Christmas and raking in the cash but FedEx is charging a Kungflu fee on top.

Worst story happened a couple months ago. My single mom neighbor had sewage coming in through the toilet flooding her bathroom. Guy is there to fix it and disappears. She thinks he's gone to get parts but 3 hours go by. She calls the company and they tell her he left because she sneezed.

Mac master did not miss a beat. Fuck me about getting a quote thought. It’s work from home not make your own fuckin hours. Quotes that usually take a hour get emailed at 10 at night. Jerk off after business hours and get my shit quoted and order.

We're having our busiest and most profitable year ever, mostly thanks to competitors sucking hind tit using Rona as an excuse. We have even had around 10 cases of Rona so far and have managed to stay within allotted timelines on deliveries despite the short staffing. We are so busy we need to hire more employees, but until the extra $600 stopped none wanted to work. We are finally starting to find a few.

Amazon has been good for me if I pick items that say they will deliver within 3 days for prime, otherwise shit. Only other thing I buy online is tackle and Tackle Warehouse hasnt missed a beat for us left coasters. Grocers are well stocked again on most items.

I hope the small local bank doesn't get busted for what they're doing. Good on you for moving to a local bank though. I'll bet whatever bank you left barely noticed, but it really helps the little guys.

I bet they didn't either. Good thing I didn't switch banks out of anger or an irrational belief that i was avenging myself on the bank.

As far as the local bank, it looks like they had all the required signage and all the employees had masks on, so I bet they'll be fine.

Amazon is pretty quick here. I'm in VA too. I'm not sure how many distribution centers there are, but it's legit fast.
That's a fawked story, man. Sounds like a shitshow time for you. Summit is the bomb. I've been very happy with them.

Home depot - blamed the rona for showing 120 stock on 10" spikes and not being able to find them in store.

HD sucked on inventory counts way before Rona.

McMaster is always on point.

USPS just took 2 weeks to get a box from Norfolk VA to KC for me. It was supposed to be 3 days. Also, their tracking sucks.

There's one in Ashland and one off 95 in Chester, I'm like dead between them both. Forget where the 3rd is or if I'm thinking of the other one they're planning.

And yeah, it was. Was the end of a really shitty downhill slide for a couple years unfortunately.

For whatever reason USPS always sucks going from VA to KC or the other way. I send my dad some peanuts and potato bread out there every once in a while and he sends me some stuff from out there. We always use UPS for anything food related because USPS takes so long.

I'm in CH, so the nearest one to me is Chester I guess. Never seen it, but think it's off 10 towards Enon.

At the beginning of this Amazon really dropped the ball, they seem to be back to almost normal now. My real beef is nothing being available, HD here could move into a warehouse half the size, nothing in stock. It's pretty much the same everywhere Most dealerships have little on the lot except for Subaru for some reason. I had to wait for 6 weeks for a windshield for my F150 and a week to get in for the oil change. I fought the cable company for months to get my Mothers cable box replaced and they send one that's NFG. The only thing back to normal really now is groceries, big deal, I am stocked for months.

All of the above are beer flu as an excuse on some level or another.:mad3:

Colonial Heights. That shithole just north of Pburg. Tattoo shops and vape store town.:mr-t::mr-t::mr-t:

Yeah I know where it is, just never heard anyone call it CH. Funny enough, people used to call it Colonial Whites because it was a long hold out on Jim Crow stuff and the KKK had a pretty big presence there for years even into the early 00s.

I have zero issues with the diversity here and everyone gets along. It's the white crackheads, VSU craptards and Pburg thugs that make things shitty. I've lived here 2-2.5 years and had to draw my sidearm on my very 1st day living here. Dude ran out of the courthouse after sentencing ....ended up in my backyard. Wrong yard, motherfucker. :lmao: My dog about shredded the dude too.

I don’t order much from Amazon, however do work for an Amazon DSP.

This time last year we were delivering max of maybe 4500 packages or so (25 routes).

So far this summer we topped out at 8400 yesterday (31 routes). Busy and getting busier.
Will leave it at that, because I am starting to reach my idiot limit when it comes to customers/Amazon warehouse retards. Doing a van drift and taking out some of them has been on my mind a time or two.

When I do order through Merrell, Columbia, RockAuto and some other vendors I try to do it ahead of time, so far each has shipped in a reasonable amount of time.

All of these companies are making lots of money on the backs of workers, nothing new here.

Amazon has been fine for me other than the gloves I normally buy from them on a subscribe and save deal have been "unavailable" since March... I bought a full case that was drop shipped direct from the manufacturer on eBay with no issue. Seems like there's some stuff that isn't available on Prime that used to be but nothing I've been in dire need of. If anything with the amount of shit they're moving these days I'd say they're doing a pretty commendable job.

The GF collects enamel pins, bought one from an artist in Spain, apparently it takes 7 weeks for whatever bullshit shipper he uses to get things here. I had an enevelope from Australia here in less than a week in the same time. That fuckface is the only one that has gotten all spun up "DON'T YOU KNOW THERE'S A PANDEMIC!" when I questioned the delay. Went as far as blocking me on instagram after I e-mailed about my order.

My business took a huge shit, with the rolling lockdowns and people cinching up wallets I couldn't snag any customers. Whatever, I found a new job that pays almost as much as my last one for WAAY less work and it's getting me the hell out of this shit hole state finally! I seem to get lucky during recessions.

As for other businesses I can only find paper towels at lowes right now, everywhere else including costco is out and has been for a month now which is weird. Other than that it's been business as usual around here.

No, its because or the principle of the matter. If you dont get it, you don't get it and any attempt to explain it to you will be in vain.

Oh I do get it. I am just not bothered by shit like that.

Work for a rebar fabricator. In our region pretty much all the states shut down “non-essential” construction for like two months. Everyone is trying to get the same amount of work down in a shorter timeframe. We typically schedule about two weeks out but are out 4+ right now. I blame the China Flu.

Shippers are all busy and lousy right now. Had a shipper lose a pallet with $20k worth of parts for a week recently and until we started on the insurance claim didn't seem to care.

Amazon still can't deliver something in less than 5 days and their inventory blows.

Ordered some parts the other day from AutoZone and paid the parts store price because I wanted them quickly. Ended up tsking longer than if I would have used summit or Amazon.

McMaster Carr as always kills it, sure you pay a little more if you don't need it right now but if you do need it right now they are the best.

Grainger has been so bad that I bet we only order 1/10 of what we used to order from them. On the other hand our local supplier (industrial sales and service) has been great.
