We are leaving early Wednesday morning for S. Georgia for a hog hunting trip. Our preferred route would take us through St. Louis, Nashville, and Atlanta. How concerned would the IBB be with "civil unrest" during this trip? If we leave at 3am, we'd roll through St. Louis around 10am, Nashville 1pm, Atlanta 5pm. Hit our destination around 8-9pm.

I'm not concerned with how things will be north of St. Louis, but am not sure about from there south. Any input from any of you southerners? Am I over-thinking this? Should I weld a cow catcher on the front of the Yukon? Stay home and buy bacon?

I think you’re overthinking things.

Edit: Media is highlighting the small percentage of asshats. They need those asshats to act that way so they have something to report. Most people will wake up after the election and live their life without rioting, pillaging, and plundering regardless of who wins.

Driving through St. Louis SUCKS. It sucks real bad.

I would not want to be near any big city this week.

Good luck hunting! I've wanted to get down south and hunt hogs for quite a while now! Post pics!:smokin:

Avoid Atlanta, if they're not rioting by then the traffic sucks anyways.

Nashville..... I would imagine should be ok.

St. Louis..... it always sucks.

About 8-10 years ago I did a few 2-week stints at a grain facility in New Madrid Mo, in the bootheel. We drove through St. Louis a half dozen times or so. It sucked every time.

I'll put a thread in OSR when we get back.

Just don't pull a Rittenhouse and walk around with an AR and you'll be fine.....

If you don't want trouble, don't look for it

We towed through St. Louis on our way out to Moab a few weeks ago. It was about 10 at night, and I swore they must have been filming the new Fast & Furious movie. Ricers, crotch rockets, and even diesel trucks were mobbing in and out of traffic like crazy. It was nuts!!

The whole drive across Missouri sucks. They drive like idiots. Not as bad as Maryland drivers, but it was awful.

I'm not looking forward to towing through St. Louis. We didn't tow last, but will be the next.

You got lucky as they just re-opened up 255 to 64 a month early in St Louis. I assume you are coming in on 70 so 370 to 270 to 255 to 64 will be a pretty easy drive at 10am.

I'm in North Central AL. So idk anything about St. Louis, but Nashville should be fine. My biggest concern would be ATL. There has been alot of civil unrest over there for several months already. It might get worse this week either way. Be safe and good luck!

Throw up a confederate flag to makes things spicy. :flipoff2:

I'd go down through Memphis just to avoid Atlanta traffic (Nashville can suck, too). I don't think the BLMs are anything to worry about on the interstates.

i havent seen anything outside of the normal misery driving thru atlanta this year.

What part of south ga are you going to? Might be worth the xtra time for a nice ride down hwy 27 or 441 etc etc and not have to deal with atl

Have you ever driven through St Louis? The choice of either a running gunfight scared for your life or being on I64 in that shit hole during rush hour(s) is pretty much a toss up.

Hitting the St. Louis area just take 270 loop south which turns into 255 before crossing the JB bridges into Illinois. They just opened up 255 north which was closed over a year for construction work. I doubt anything will be a concern that route. I know dipshit leftest have protested closing 270 north route in the past as well as hwys going directly through St. Louis.

im heading out Wednesday morning also to Louisiana. I’m wondering about Memphis and other cities heading south.

Living in Missouri I can agree with drivers here suck. You have to pay attention as they’ll do stupid shit maneuvers when you least expect it. Tho driving in Illinois and Arkansas things aren’t any different.

Me personally take the 65 south pf nashville and then birmingham and columbus what part of georgia is the hunting near? avoid atlanta that can easily be 3 hours bumper to bumper and if you have an ez turnpike pass bring it and use it.

We'll be near Cairo.

Arkansas has the world record on left lane campers. There's 2 types- either 3mph under the speed limit, or the bipolar guy that does 65, 80, 72, 85, 68, 75 and passes you 6 times in 10 miles as you have the cruise set on 5 over.

Any of these 3 ways should be fine to avoid ATL. But myself, I would take the 1 in the middle that takes 5hr 7min. That will take you through Euafala, which is a nice place to see.

id take the ride south in MO on us 63/i555 thru memphis

Then the ride on i22 from memphis to birmingham is boring, but easy. dont get caught speeding, they will be looking.

Take 65 south and hop on 231 to us 84.

Much much better ride that the cluster thru st louis, nashville, i 24 to chattanooga then the shit that is atlanta and the clusterfuck coming and going to it

Dude that's here in NC as well, my "favorite" is the asshole that paces you for 10miles then hammers it to 80 and follows your pattern again. Must be a southern thing.

OP looks like I'll be going opposite of you, I have to return to the shitcago commie war zone Thursday, Friday and coming back home sat. My POS father in law is in hospice back in hellinois.

I'll have to check some of these alternate routes out tonight before we leave.

Is that supposed to be a bad thing? Sounds like free entertainment to me. I'd take that over DC's 10pm traffic jams any day.

your timing to hit ATL sucks. 75 south of town in a parking lot (35mph top speed but mostly stop & go) until you are south of McDonough the toll lane helps significantly shorten your times but no trailers permitted in that lane and you have to have a toll transponder.
The alternate route to avoid ATL through Eufala is a nice drive with decent roads and great scenery.
