The Atomic axle design is very close to IFS/IRS in a static state.
Very easy to accomplish today with current mainstream IFS parts, not that anyone should. Throw in some portals and you can get stupid high diff clearance. Not that a high diff solves all the problems.
I think where IFS/IRS portals excel is that they can keep the diff low in relation to motor and packaging while at full compression while allowing up travel. Having a stupid high diff is not going to work well with links and driveline angles let alone COG.
Its 2022 we are suppose to have flying cars by now... at least we should have electric hubs that are not stupid heavy allowing for control of unsprung weight on a light weight chassis.
What we are doing today will be looked back upon in the future and people will think we are cavemen strapping round rock wheels to log axles and grunting as we drag them over bigger boulders and feel victorious that we did not destroy our junk or injure ourselves. I guess we are still waiting on antient aliens to come deliver the technology we so desperately need to conquer a mound of rocks and dirt. If I'm getting any smarter as I age I'm starting to understand why people wheel bone stock flat fenders, I think they understand what I don't yet understand, if you understand what I'm trying to understand.
