Repost from the shiddy weld thread but I'm proud how it turned out in the end. Had to make a new point for an old slate hammer. These are kind of obsolete now in my area so it was cool to keep a little bit of the old school way of things alive

Stortz. Looks like a 1998 build date. They have a tendency to break at the handle to shaft transition. When I'm home Tuesday I'll shoot a pic of mine repair.

It seems like I regularly have welding needs around the property that I put off cause it is a PITA to load all the genny and loose welding crap in a pickup bed, do the project and then unload all that stuff. Decided a welding cart would be handy. Had to be easy to move around by hand, self contained and could be towed around with a 4wheeler or small tractor.

Had a few days off so I started picking through the junk pile and my scrap. Had to buy a set of spindle/hubs and the front caster, but the rest is all junk I had on hand and repurposed. Ammo box holds gloves, helmet, welpers and junk. Probably need to add a basket somewhere to hold grinders and such.

Cool. Your blurred pics make it look like a toy.

Do you use flux core when working outside? I always have trouble with the wind blowing away the gas when outside migging, now I always use stick.

This is the answer just use a stick machine. :flipoff2:

I can honestly say I have never even tried outside mig welding.

it'd prolly work well for buildup inside the crusher with a couple bits of cardboard

but it is just easier to leave self-shielded wire in the suitcase feeder (which is probably not even set up for gas)

When I had the rolls rebuilt up that was a flux cored wire. But then again he was putting 700-900# of wire down in one shot. I hired that out cause screw welding for 20 some hours straight.

Christmas present to the sister. The bench to a table I made for her last year, ended up magically matching correctly. I say magically because the table top was a series of mishaps of resanding, buffing, re planing, warping, etc.
Are we pretending to ignore her drinking problem? And fear of labels?

Haha, her and the BIL were doing some reorganizing. They hit the duty free 1-3x a month and scoop up deals or hard to finds. Did try some blantons, limited release angels envy and stag Jr on Christmas thanks to their findings. :smokin:
Is that a fucking Lego on the floor?

I can feel the pain from here.
Never fails, always lurking when least expected.

I have a tombstone, but .... I just like mig better. The tombstone gets used for hardfacing and odd material welding tasks. That hobart is pretty old, it was my first mig machine. It has been the backup welder for some time since I got a bigger 250 machine and rarely gets used, except for when I had to load all the chit in a pickup for out of shop welding. Since I tended to grab it for that stuff, figured it made sense to just use it on the cart.

Wind isnt a problem until it gets over 20mph and then you start looking for things to do inside the barn anyway. Couple pieces of cardboard or cup your passive hand like you are lighting a cigarette. I am not doing anything I care about, corral fences, gates, patching ancient farm equipment, etc. Weld appearance is not a concern.

Cart doubles as the generator for when power goes out. I have a couple locations where I can back feed power to my ranch to run the well pump. (Yeah, cut the city power before doing that... ). Cart makes it easier to move that genny around to where I need it. It isnt super heavy, but the skimpy little wheels and poor ergonomics on the factory handles is not conducive to dragging further than about 50'. And I dont have pavement or concrete floors anywhere on my property, so bigger wheels is a must. My shop (converted barn) is dirt floor. The handle end caster has (guessing here) about 50 - 75 lbs downward, easy to lift up if needed, whole deal is no more to push around than a full shopping cart at the grocery.

I blurred out the rest of the pictures to keep you nosy bastards outta my business asking about stuff in the background. :flipoff2:

DeWalt DCV517 20v vacuum sucks as-is. The exhaust blows out from both sides. Dirt and dust I try to vacuum up get blown away.

I found this on eBay

I didn’t like how his exhaust diverters hang out from sides. That’s just asking for gettin snapped off or gets in the way.

I designed and 3D printed my own dual exhaust ducts to blow out back and taped vents shut on inside.

Sooo much better. Dirt stays as I vacuum them up. DeWalt fucked this one up bad. :shaking:

Wheelchair lift in the new bus isn't as cool as we thought it might be. It's kinda a PITA, takes up a bunch of room in the garage and if it fails, loading/unloading the bikes is going to bring the suck.
Ramp on the black bus was perfect for ease of loading and unloading as well as providing a nice picnic table in camp.
So... Time to build a ramp/table for the tan bus. Gotta figure out better support ropes (have some winch rope coming) and a latch but all in all not a bad weekend project.
