Going to put a down payment on it tonight before I round up the rest of the cash. 2001 Freightliner Century, 14L cummins N14, three pedal auto, dual drive axles, and a 22' box. Wish me luck!

White, kind of a van shape. Someone needs to paint free candy on the sides.:flipoff2:
What are your plans for it?

Three-pedal auto?

I hope you got that thing CHEAP.

Aren't they just a computer shifted 10 spd? Hence the clutch pedal for take offs.

I wonder if you could buy the parts to convert it to an actual stick?

Quick Google search says converting is very straightforward. Basically just switch the top cover over and ditch the related shit (computer and wiring)

What are your plans for it? We needs some Hdt Mdt builds up in here fo sho!

I have been busy messing with it the last few nights, and I am pretty stoked about it.

The specs:

2001 Freightliner Century 120
Air ride suspension
Air ride cab
Air ride seats
14 liter cummins - 425 hp
Eaton 10 speed Autoshift - not as lame as you would think (until it shits the bed, then its going to be stupid)
Dual 40k lb drive axles - 11R22.5 tires, 3.66 gear ratio, air lockers
22' L X 102" W X 106 H box with new barn doors, hinges, and seals
Rigmaster APU
Two beds in the sleeper

The good:
It was cheap
It is badass
It has a 5k lift gate
It is tagged as a motorhome, with 80,000lb plates..........for 119.00 a year.....
Engine runs strong, trans shifts nice, tires are newer
Cheaper than a blown out 3/4 ton truck

The Bad:
It is a 20 year old freightliner with a bunch of miles
It needs a little TLC like any project.

I am in the middle of a buggy build and will eventually need a tow rig, and have been keeping an eye out for trucks just to see whats out there. This truck turned up a few miles from me, and ended up buying it. The plan is to get it cleaned up a little bit, maybe give it a paint job down the line.

My immidate plans:
Give everything a good cleaning
Typical maintenance - oil change, diff oil, trans oil, front bearing oil, and maybe check the coolant. Replace all filters.
Maybe paint the inside of the box.
Figure out a way to pull a trailer while keeping the lift gate.

Same year, just a little more pimped out.

If any one has ideas for it, please let me know. I am very new to the HDT world, and am trying to learn as much as possible. One of my good buddies owns an on site heavy equipment repair business, he has been a huge help so far.

Just like any other worn out truck its gonna need the suspension, kingpins and steering replaced. U wont even know how bad it is until u swap in new parts. Took about 5 years to rehab the Repete. Triple check the air system. Put a brake air pressure to electric brake controler on it, although with 2 rear axles it wont be as important as our singled rig.

The weather is supposed to be nice this weekend, I am going ot bring it to the shop and go over it really good. A buddy has all the tools, jacks, and equipment needed to work on it. I will grab some more pics.

Missed this thread the first go round but stopped in to say that is one badass tow rig and ill definitely be following this thread for updates! :smokin:

Got a cool pic last night while I was letting it warm up.

A buddy was getting rid of a footwalk of some sort, add a little reinforcement, and I think it will be good enough for a SXS or buggy.

We have an 855 bigcam 3-400 in the pete and it was more then enough for 3600 miles at 50k lbs. We did DE to CO to UT to CA and bach home in 12 days before covid last year.

the newer nt-14 has more in it but also more computer.

cool, i read good things about the n14, good luck!

Yes, the N14 is a good motor. My Dad has drove dozens of trucks since the mid to late 70's and he'll still tell you one of the best running/pulling trucks he's drove had a N14 in it. I think the trans was a 13 or 15 spd but still he says that was a stout motor.
