Are the bans and Father Time pushing the prices of pre-94 AR’s to the 2k+ range or is it just a cool retro thing?
In CT prebans are legal as well. There is a new bill being pushed by the governor that would ban prebans and our "others"i dont know, does it actually matter in these states with newly passed laws?
i know it matters in California and Mass right?
retro AR has brought high prices for a while but SP1s are really high and no one is buying them, that i can see.
California had their own AW ban in 2000. You can't transfer any pre-2000 firearms that are considered California "AWs". You were allowed to keep the ones you had, provided you registered them as AWs.i dont know, does it actually matter in these states with newly passed laws?

I just got a message from a friend that said in CT and MA only pre-ban ARs are legal. If he’s right, that’s sad.Why does a pre-'94 even matter after '04? What am I missing here?
Pre-federal ban? Or pre-CT ban?I just got a message from a friend that said in CT and MA only pre-ban ARs are legal. If he’s right, that’s sad.
Since I asked the dumb question I thought I should at least try… I looked up the CT .gov site and found this:Pre-federal ban? Or pre-CT ban?
The linky: https://cga.ct.gov/2012/rpt/2012-R-0362.htm GC xPA 01-130—BANNING ADDITIONAL WEAPONS
This act added the following to weapons designated as assault weapons:
1. semiautomatic rifles and pistols that can accept a detachable magazine and have certain features;
2. semiautomatic shotguns with certain features; and
3. part or parts in one person's possession either designed or intended to convert any firearm into one of the newly covered assault weapons or from which one may be assembled rapidly.
The act banned any of the newly designated assault weapons manufactured after September 12, 1994. It allowed the transfer and possession of those legally manufactured before September 13, 1994 by stipulating that it must not be construed to limit their transfer or require their registration.
The act took effect on October 1, 2001
But, isn't that Federally regulated as an AOW? (Due to the VFG?)CT had a ban at the same time as the federal ban. Due to the way it was written for specific firearms and not features, as new companies started making ARs after the sunset of the federal ban, those firearms were legal to own. in 2013 a revised ban was put in place that included the "evil feature" list. The original ban never went away like the federal ban did so a Pre-94 Firearm allows CT residents to build an AR with no restrictions. In the states haste to "improve" the ban they accidentally created an Other category. Based on the definitions of Rifles and Pistols in CT law, you can build an AR with a barrel longer than 12", must have a VFG and cant have a stock (pistol brace is fine, as long as you follow current ATF direction).
So this is legal in CT, But if you put a regular stock on it, its not.
overall length is over 26" so no.But, isn't that Federally regulated as an AOW? (Due to the VFG?)
That’s a more clear answer than I read. Thanks. And sorry you have to know this.CT had a ban at the same time as the federal ban.
