What's new

Post up rare, custom, or just plain weird trucks!

Full float FJ60 hubs, FZJ80 rear disc and caliper, bracket made from 3/8" plate. Puts its ~61.75" wide with 6x5.5.

I'd buy every toyota dually axle I could find but they're rare 30 years later.

Correct, you can use solid axle or ifs hubs too but you need to space the axle out about 5/8" or shorten the shaft since the mini hubs aren't as tall as the cruiser stuff.

The spacer is hack and doesn't 'work'. Has nothing to do with the shaft, the spindle is longer than the hub body, despite using the same bearings/profile.

I don't see the appeal of an 8" full floater though. Center an fj80 and use a ring & pinion that isn't waiting for a place to fail.

All depends on application. The housing is much stronger than a semi float. Its 'shaved' and all the clearance as well.

Ahhh the spindle was the issue. I remember reading about it eons ago, never understood the draw to proprietary unobtainable parts with a bitch ass ring & pinion. It beats the $1500 full floater conversion I guess.

I’ve been holding out on you. This is my grandfathers 1936 Diamond T school bus. If you google 1936 Diamond T school bus you will only find pics of his it’s that rare. Diamond T’s we’re the Cadillac of trucks and it was rare for someone to spend real money on a bus. This came from Utah and who had crazy money to blow on shit like a school bus? The Mormons. Grandpa Dad and my uncle dragged this thing off Diamond mountain Utah in 1988 and it had been used as a camper for many years. It’s a resto-mod not a full restoration.

I don't care for school bus anything, but I like that its a Diamond T and that is super rare.

What kind of value does that have?

Grandpa has been offered crazy money for it but always turned it down. IIRC he was offered like $250K for it once and he wasn’t ready to let it go yet. He’s 83 and still drives it.

If someone offered me a quarter of a million dollars at 83 years old...I don't care what it is, I'm selling it
It was a long time ago that that happened. I was a kid but here’s the way I remember it. It was a procurement person looking for the right bus for some movie. They were going to drill holes all over it and mount cameras and stuff. Then crash it at the end. Grandpa said he’ll No your not ruining the only one. I bet he wouldn’t sell still though. He wants one of us kids to want it. I don’t want to fight with my relatives over it later so I wish he’d sell it and BLOW every penny.

That'd be a kickass rig to take the kids camping and fishing in.
