Post pictures from your Game Cameras

I need to get mine set back up this weekend. Time to start scouting and see what’s out there for this fall.
Iowa DNR has been working on putting together a law banning cellular cameras. The hardcore bow hunting crowd loves the idea because they think cell cameras are making everyone lazy hunters.

Why? I hunt 2 hours from home and love the cell cams

Funny i have never seen any of the animals i seen on my game camera actually while hunting.

We already ban the use of two way radios, cell phones, etc while deer hunting to eliminate communication about where deer are. The thought is cell cameras give the same advantage.
I love my cell cameras also.

I believe it is the live stream cams that are the issue

All of the cell cams can be set to instantly send you the pics or video they take. The concern is that you buy 10 of them and surround your hunting area to give you real time updates on what's there.

do you download the footage every week or pay cell service for this.

i too have a shit ton of deer in my side yard daily... and who knows what else visits.
I don't put up any of my "regular" deer pics. I have a doe and 2 fawns that create 20-30 notifications a day. It's hard to wade through them to find the unique visitors to my spring. I had no idea we had so many species coming through there. We have 5 acre lots on one side of us, but the other side backs up to a nature preserve. We have 17 acres in our parcel.

I have a sim card on our family plan that got thrown in this game cam, so it's like $18/month on our family cell plan. I have another cam I'm testing at home that I hope to put up this weekend.

I have 4 cellular cameras on the hunting lease that I pay cell service for. Not all of the pictures send over cell so I still pull the sd cards every couple weeks and download them to see all of the pics.

Closer to and during hunting season I’ll check the sd cards less often to not spook anything in the area and leave scent.

I still have 4 non-cellular cameras that I use occasionally.

The deer that hang around the house don't give a shit about that stuff. No monster bucks or anything like that, but I regularly walk within 50 yards of them. They just look at me, I give them a "tuk, tuk, tuk" and they go back to browsing.

My brother was in the woods near the house on a visit last year and he said he came across a couple of them. They glanced up briefly, did a double take, stared harder and ran off (we look very similar). Shooting one of those would be like shooting the guy you see at the hardware store all the time.

The bigger bucks (for around here) do take some more effort to get near. Although these two showed up several times at a feeder about 80 yards from the house last November. Those are big bucks for here.

I wondered about scent being left behind, and i hadn't walked more than 5 minutes from pulling the sd card on my camera and my doe with 2 fawns was back in there. Last year when we were hunting the white tails couldn't figure out why the rocks under their feet were exploding, and just kept plodding along...

Mature bucks will bust out on scent, and mature does. I’ve had younger deer follow me through the woods.

Ok, fawk that shit. Cell phones or radios don’t make any difference for hunting game at all imo. But I will say that it is necessary for a bunch of reasons. Call for help when needed from finding a winded deer to just help dragging it out of the woods and loading up a big deer in a hunting vehicle. What if someone gets hurt?

I send videos of wildlife via text messages while hunting, no one is going to come up in my hill and kill it all just because I saw it and texted videos of it. That thought process is insane and whoever came up with that nonsense needs a poke in the eyeball.
:shaking:

We love the cell cameras for the fact it keeps us out of the woods fawking with the cameras. No one bow hunts on our farm but no cell cameras is still stupid.

Fact is this, once the rut starts which is almost always during our rifle season and the bucks we see on our cameras earlier, are on our neighbors property with does or they’re on a different area of our farm. It goes the other way too, I’ve harvested bucks that weren’t captured on any of my cameras.

Anyway, some photos today from our farm. A crow, a vulture and a 10 point buck
