only pic I have so far. My grandpa's old 85 s10 blazer. He's been gone since 2003.

Thought this had disappeared years ago. Turns out it had been hiding on my aunt and uncles property they had to clean out. They were considering scrapping it.... 62k miles, 2.8 v6 5 speed t-5 4x4. Last tagged in 98.

Stock interior is complete (but the years have not been kind). Not so much a build, but a refresh and likely 4.3 swap. Get it running, driving, stopping after my 56 CJ build is done. So don't expect progress soon. But it will be nice to spend some time with my pop once again.

Will continue to update as I begin going through it. Will get more pics tomorrow.

Tried to hook it to a fresh battery, gauges powered up and the alarms buzzed, but it wouldn't turn over. I'm guessing corrosion at the starter.

Figured I would just give it a quick try since I had a fresh battery, it was full of fresh looking oil and the radiator was still half full. All the vacuum lines are trashed of course, and the door seals are rotten from 26 years of sitting.

It'll be a fun project to start.

Any hop up tips for the 2.8 besides a cam, lifters, roller rockers and intake with a better carb setup?

Started to look at 4.3 swaps, but the T5 wont likely live behind it, would need a bellhousing and a bunch of other parts, and I want to do this more as a restore and hang with my pop in spirit than a hard core build (no LS and tons. Thats what the jeep is for)

Anyway, enjoy the pics. It's definitely a time capsule.
Somehow this ended up in another thread. Oops...

I believe the 3.4 3400 engine is a 60 degree engine that shares a lot of architecture. That was a pretty solid engine with a supercharger option. Probably a better candidate over trying to make a 2.8 work.

Yes but they are both 60 degree and doable. Unless you are a manual and need a pilot bearing it is probably something work looking at instead of a 2.8

Ooh 😮

I don't know, something different would be cool but a 5.7 slides in pretty cheap. Do you have budget?

Trying to keep this fairly simple and v6 powered. No solid budget yet. Thinking in the future 5-7k should get me interior, paint, and whatever is left out of the budget is engine and drivetrain.

I would just do what it takes to get the 2.8 running then figure out what you want to do for a swap. If it was a 4.3 this would be a no brainier. But the 2.8 doesn't swap to anything easy or cheap.

I had a buddy years ago that put a 3.4 from a 94 camaro in one after the 2.8 went, both were manuals. It was a noticeable bump in power but the 2.8 is pretty reliable if its not already trashed from like block crack froze up etc.

My grandfather had an 87? 2.8 5 speed, red and silver two tone. Rode all over the county chasing the fish truck with him. He passed in 04 they gave it to one of the caretakers probably year prior. NE rust had killed it. Sorta wish I had it, but I have his 74 C-30 instead.

Subb'ed for updates

I don't think it's a complete heap but it definitely will not impress you by any means even on flat ground. Like the Iron Duke, you will get to where you are going. You'll just be late...

I have multiple other outlets for go fast. If I can get it to "not getting run over on the on ramp to the freeway" I'll be ok.

I might have a line on a 2.8 if you are interested let me know and I'll check it out, it isn't going anywhere.

I have to look around, but I think I have a complete 1994 3.4L with a swap harness that would bolt in 200ish HP.

If I still have it, you can have it, just cover shipping.

Thanks Grendel let me know what it would be to ship. 3.4 for a manual trans?
