1/2” 4x8 OSB.... Home Depot $57.00 a sheet... local lumber yard $68.00 a sheet!!!
I need 100 to finish my project.... holy fk man!!!!
Is this nationwide or more localized???
I knew this stuff was creeping up, but holy shit!!!!

Something about the glue apparently. Based off what I "heard" anyway... that and they don't expect it to come down soon.

Blows hard. The prices shot up right as we start decking our attic again, nearly doubling the cost of re-insulating our attic to get our $500/mo electric heat bills down.

A friend just used 3/4" maple plywood to do the roof on his deck instead of basic plywood because maple was $5 a sheet cheaper. $63 a sheet for good shit or $68 for cheap shit. Awesome. :homer:

makes me happy i got the floor in the house done before this hit. hurt enough paying $15-20/sheet for the non-Advantech T&G subfloor.

can't imagine doing any significant wood projects at this time. I may bite the bullet for a couple 16' PT 2x6's or 2x8's for a small walkway project, but that's about it this year.

Been re-using lumber i have kicking around to avoid buying. Made a shelf for the garage out of some old PT 2x4x16's that were twisted in both planes, plus some pallet 2x4 pieces. Pallet "2x4's"have been used for some other stuff. Fawk the prices for even the junk lumber

We order 1000s of sheets a year. 7/16” OSB from supplier @ $47/ea last week. 1/2” plywood was $53.

Yea, I'm doing vinyl flooring in the living room in a few weeks. Not sure how covid culture has affected that job yet.

I got this finished just in time and the redwood was still $6.99/ea.

It’s a fake shortage and the purpose is to cripple the construction industry.
It was actually started in 2019 by the saw mills. They knew they had too much supply and demand was low(check prices it's easy to see). They slowed production to push prices up, then covid hit, and now low supply hit with high demand because everyone is at home in 2020. Coupled with the fact that interest rates are low, people have credit to burn, cash in hand, and are willing to pay more for products because they just can't wait for the prices to come back to normal.
This is ultimately what will keep the prices high for a while. Idiots will still buy lumber at these ridiculous prices because the "must have it now" mentality overrides the cost to benefit ratio.

Live in the middle of nowhere and doing a remodel in a bathroom that the bathtub leaked and ruined the Sub floor. Tore the whole bathroom down to the studs with out checking prices. Needed 3 sheets of 3/4 for new sub floor and there wasn’t a sheet of OSB anywhere to be found.

Ended up using cabinet grade plywood for $99 a sheet because that’s what we could find. Almost Looks to pretty to put laminate down on it but that’s what’s about to happen.

Nah, this shit started with the riots last year, then rona shut shit down so production facilities were shuttered.

I have been trying to put a floor in my boat and I may just have to pony up and just get it over with.

Welcome to the fundamental transformation of the country... we saw lines at grocery stores, people begging for the gov’t to help, government dictating production...

Socialism came in by demand from the scared...

Talk about timley mom's news program just had a report where their expert said don't expect it to ge anybetter till next summer. He said because of the lock down people had time to do home project last year and this years housing builds has not allowed them to stock pile any.

GF needed some cheep OSB for wind shielding in her horse pens; Fuck that, 12 sheets of 5mm underlayment was loaded up. There is a major housing development going up nearby. Plenty of scrap OSB laying around or tossed in dumpsters; going to have to ask if I can take it. It still plenty good for horses; they eat it anyway.

Found a guy in Chehalis with 30 sheets plywood 4’x80”.... kinda random size, but it will work for what I need.... and $30.00 a sheet....
Have to Home Depot the rest!!!!
