Day dreaming again, I know I've seen at least one build thread where someone takes a single cab truck and cuts out the back wall to make a rear seat space like a Bronco/Blazer/Ramcharger, with bedsides and stuff still. Drawing a blank on which one or ones I'm thinking of. Could have been at the old place. I'm thinking a least one fullsize Chevy, fullsize dentside Ford, and a Toyota one like a Trekker but home built.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Yes

I never bothered to cut out the rear of my cab, had a bench seat in the back though

If you cut out the rear of thr cab, you can get the rear seat in front of the rear axle and it will ride better

Shaffers Offroad blue blazer was pretty nice. The build thread is on the other site.

For all the hate these get, they were pretty damn fun. My aunt had one when I was a kid and it was blast to ride around in the back of. Especially at the beach.

I recently found out those jump seats were added to get around some wierd import tax the US had on basically anything that could carry cargo. Supposedly still active today and ford get around it with all the transits by manufacturering with seats, then pulling them out when they get into the US.

When I was like 19-20 I had an 84 hatchback and later an 81 wagon. Same platform as the brat. They were an absolute blast. Had 2hi(fwd) 4hi and 4low. The hatchback with a welded diff was so much fun on dumb little trails.

They kinda suffered the same fate as the samurai's where they were cheap and fun to beat on/destroy. Now you can't hardly find them.
